If there’s water anywhere near Lexi, she’s already clocked it, logged it, and decided she probably needs to be in it. Her humans at @lexi_girl_goldenretriever just happened to be filming when Lexi looked at a public fountain and clearly thought, yes, this pool will do. In the viral video, this adventurous Golden Retriever ignores the intended purpose of the stone structure. And tries to force a spa day, instead. It’s one of those moments that makes you nod if you’ve ever lived with this breed — water first, details later. It’s the scramble that gets you — halfway clumsy, halfway determined, and very on brand.
Owner explains Golden Retriever’s logic behind taking dip in fountain thinking it’s a pool
Lexi starts by propping her front paws onto the edge of the fountain. She doesn’t hesitate before splashing her legs into the main bowl.On-screen text pops up saying, “Golden Retriever Logic: If it has water, it’s a pool,” which honestly explains everything that follows. Lexi isn’t one to let a little thing like “public decorum” stand in the way of a good cool soak.
It does, however, get a bit clumsy once she tries to pull her back legs into the mix. Lexi is a big girl, and this fountain was definitely not designed for a full-grown dog. She slips once, wobbles, and somehow wedges herself between the bowl and a stone slab. It looks incredibly uncomfortable, but she manages to squeeze her fluffy body into the tiny space.
Soon though she realizes the “pool” is a bit of a tight fit. She hops out gracefully and immediately gives a massive shake, spraying water everywhere. Fans loved the clip, with one viewer noting that their own dog, Blaze, does the exact same thing. Another joked that Lexi was absolutely convinced she could make it work.
The post has 3700 likes and counting. It only goes to show Lexi’s definition of pool didn’t go unnoticed. Watching her treat a tiny fountain like a five-star resort is a total mood. And we can’t wait to see where she finds her next swimming spot.
