When this video opens, Sutton is slumped against her Los Angeles couch cushions. And she is looking like the weight of the world is on her shoulders. She sits perfectly still on the couch while staring off into the distance with a look of utter betrayal. In this post from @suttonthegoldengirl, the young Golden Retriever is clearly going through her “teenage” phase. Even though she lives a charmed life involving lattes and beach walks, she’s currently giving her mom a masterclass in domestic drama. She is only 11 months old, but she has already perfected the art of looking completely misunderstood by her parents.
Golden Retriever goes full drama mode even after getting what she wants
That look of absolute misery has already earned over 3,500 likes from people who recognize the “teenage” struggle. The on-screen text calls her out, saying there is “no one more dramatic than a Golden Retriever who gets what she wants 24/7.” As the “I’m just a baby” audio plays, Sutton shifts her gaze to look at the camera with the most accusing eyes you’ve ever seen. It is such a classic move for this breed. They are usually so happy that when they decide to pout, they go all in.
Sutton hasn’t always been this moody, of course. When she first moved from Utah to California at eight weeks old, she was all about cuddles and sunshine. Now that she’s almost a year old, she’s realized that staring mournfully into space is a great way to get extra attention.
She watches her mom film her, then immediately looks back away to maintain her “bereft” persona. Her owner jokes that this is just “the life of a teenage golden,” and honestly, it’s hard not to buy into the performance.
Her parents call her Suttie, but in this moment, she’s strictly a misunderstood artist. She has basically perfected the “life is unfair” look before she’s even hit her first birthday. We’re definitely keeping an eye on her video feed to see what she decides to be “sad” about next.
