Video Shows Dog Fully Knows What Christmas Stockings Store

There’s something about Christmas that brings out anticipation in everyone, and dogs are no exception. The twinkling lights, the festive house, and most importantly, the mysterious decorated socks hanging from mantels all become part of the excitement. One video shows a dog who clearly hasn’t forgotten what Christmas stockings meant last year.

Dog drops not-so-subtle hints about Christmas stockings in video

Whisky, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, appears to remember last year’s Christmas tradition incredibly well. According to her owner, Whisky received treats in a holiday stocking last December and seemed thrilled by the experience. Now, as this year’s decorations go up, the pup has made it clear she expects history to repeat itself.

The video shows the furbaby sitting near the newly hung stockings, staring at them with purpose. She doesn’t bark or paw at them dramatically; her body language alone says enough. The long stare, head tilting, and quiet anticipation make it obvious she understands exactly what stockings represent: treats meant specifically for her.

Her owner jokes in the caption that they now need to rethink how they’ll handle the stocking situation so Whisky isn’t disappointed. The clip quickly gained attention, and commenters couldn’t help but join in on the fun. One person wrote, “She knows she was a good girl and definitely on the nice list!” Another said, “She is so expressive! You can almost read her mind.”

Many offered solutions too, with suggestions ranging from toy surprises to a full advent calendar made just for dogs. Someone proposed, “Do an advent calendar for her! A daily Christmas treat or toy until the big day!” Another added, “You could always sneak in little baked treats the night before Christmas.”

If you want to make Christmas special for your dog, it helps to keep safety in mind. Holiday food like chocolate, grapes, and anything containing artificial sweeteners should be kept out of reach. You’ll also want to keep your pup away from breakable ornaments or wrapping materials.

An easy way to involve your dog is by choosing safe treats, puzzle toys, or a stocking filled with dog-friendly goodies. A little preparation goes a long way in making the day fun for you and your pup.
