Most pups see it as an open invitation to feast, and who could blame them? That’s why a recent video of two Golden Retrievers showing remarkable restraint around treats has captured so much attention online.
Golden Retriever siblings are ‘confused’ when owner drops treats in video
Gamja and Chip, two Golden Retriever siblings with more than 400K followers on Instagram under the handle @gamjamypotato, are no strangers to the spotlight. Their page is filled with playful clips of the duo exploring their home, going on walks, and generally spreading joy to their massive fan base. However, their latest Instagram Reel is quickly going viral, and for good reason.
The video begins with the Golden Retrievers’ owner standing at the kitchen counter, emptying a bag of treats. Suddenly, a few pieces “accidentally” drop to the floor. Both dogs, who had been patiently watching her every move, immediately perk up. Their eyes dart from the counter to the ground, heads tilting in adorable synchronization as they try to figure out what just happened.
Instead of diving in, though, Gamja and Chip simply stare at the fallen treats, their confusion written all over their faces. Chip, unable to hide his excitement, begins to drool. So much, in fact, that small puddles form beneath him as he waits for permission to grab the snack. Despite the obvious temptation, both pups hold back impressively, showing just how well-trained and disciplined they are.
Finally, their owner sits down, picks up the treats, and hands one to each of them. In the comments, she admitted that resisting was probably tough for them because “it’s one of their favorite beef liver treats!,” before proudly calling them the “Goodest BBs.”
Fans couldn’t get enough of the adorable display of patience. One user wrote, “They need some extra treatos for sitting so patiently.” Another gushed, “Omg how can you resist Gamja’s eyes.” Meanwhile, a third joked, “Your babies are well-disciplined but mine would have enjoyed this treat rain.”
