Video: Owner Lists Shih Tzu’s ‘Toxic Traits’ & Internet Can’t Relate to It Enough

Most small dogs have big personalities, but the Shih Tzu is royalty. Milo is fully aware of his supreme status in the scheme of things. Described in his @milo.chewie.kim bio as a “full-time rascal, part-time escape artiste,” he has the internet going wild over a “toxic traits” video. There are seven, but honestly, there could be more. His owner, clearly both smitten and exasperated, delivers the roast with affection only a Shih Tzu parent can understand. Shih Tzus were historically pampered Chinese imperial dogs; they haven’t forgotten it.

Milo’s reel has become instant comfort viewing for every small-dog owner who’s ever tried to set boundaries and failed spectacularly. Now, with over 36,000 likes, the video starts with Milo staring at his human, and the text pops up: “My Shih Tzu’s 7 toxic traits.” What follows is a highlight reel of diva behavior.

The first is a hilarious example of the dog’s selective socialization: “Has ZERO patience for puppies,” as Milo makes funny faces and pointedly looks away when a puppy barks at him to play. Next, he “begs shamelessly” at cafés by tapping his human’s arm. He also refuses to conform to dog norms: “Does not play fetch.” He grabs the toy, runs toward his human, and then swerves at the last second, “(likes to taunt),” his human explains in the text.

His list continues with “no sharing,” as he growls off a Dachshund, “always wants something,” when pawing at cartons or hands, and “throws tantrums,” complete with huffing and bed-digging. Finally, he caps it off with “emotionally manipulative,” complete with a quivering lip and dramatic puppy eyes.

Viewers couldn’t get enough. One wrote, “Do all Shih Tzus come pre-programmed with the same behaviors?” Another added, “Stage 5 clingers — they’re stalkers.” Others said, “Selective hearing!” and “It’s the underbite and cr*zy eyes for me.” Every comment confirmed what Milo already knows — he’s not toxic; he’s just “King”.
