There’s a reason dogs are often called our “best friends.” Their loyalty runs deep, their instincts are strong, and their ability to sense when something’s wrong is nothing short of remarkable. A Newfoundland named Chewy recently proved just how true that is in a video when he discovered his grandma had taken a fall and chose to remain by her side until he knew she was okay.
Newfoundland sticks by grandma’s side after she gets hurt in video
Chewy has melted hearts online after showing incredible care for his grandma. The video, shared by his family, begins with the Newfoundland sitting closely beside her as she rests on the couch. Earlier, she had taken a small tumble after tripping over her shoe. Although the pup wasn’t there when it happened, his protective instincts kicked in the moment he found out.
According to the clip, Chewy’s family quickly rushed to help, ensuring grandma was safe and comfortable. Fortunately, she escaped the fall with only a minor bruise, and the family even heard her calling out from upstairs afterward. Still, the Newfie wasn’t about to take any chances.
The onscreen text reads, “He’s not leaving now,” a fitting description of the loyal pup’s determination to stay by her side. As his grandma sits recovering, Chewy remains glued to her. He offers the kind of emotional support only a dog can provide. His owner can be heard gently reassuring him that everything is okay, but the big-hearted Newfoundland seems intent on keeping watch a little longer, just in case.
Viewers were touched by the furbaby’s response and flooded the comments section with supportive messages. “Sending lots of love. Chewy is so caring,” one user wrote. Another said, “You keep Grandma safe, Chewy… thankful to God that she is okay.” Someone affectionately dubbed him “Nurse Chewy,” while another added, “Stable shoes and stable Chewy important!”
