Video: Puppy Goes Viral for Talking to His Owner Using Several Gestures

Mimosa isn’t your average puppy — half the time, it feels like he’s trying to hold an actual conversation with his mom, complete with gestures and dramatic timing. This bouncy, big-hearted Brindle has got a whole system of gestures, grumbles, and dramatic looks that make it feel like he’s actually talking, as can be seen in this video.

In one of his latest Instagram Reels, Mimosa’s back-and-forth with his mom is hilarious as well as jaw-dropping. What makes the video of the talking puppy so fun is how naturally he slips into the role of the family’s tiny comedian, always ready to chime in with a new ‘argument.’

Instagram users amused seeing puppy talk to his owner in his own language

The clip begins on the couch, with Mimosa’s mom filming and asking, “You’re really talkative today. What’s up?” The pup opens his mouth like he’s about to answer, but nothing comes out. After a beat, he lets out a few low barks, shuffles his paws, and then puts out one to make his point very clear.

However, that’s just the warm-up — the more his mom talks, the more the puppy improves his performance in the video. His mom says, “Okay, whoa, calm down,” and Mimosa immediately slaps her hand with his paw.

The moment gets replayed in slow motion for extra effect. When she tells him, “You don’t have to get violent,” Mimosa doubles down with another paw smack and a dramatic little growl, almost like he’s negotiating.

He edges closer, his tail wagging the entire time, until his mom laughs and tells him, “You’re too close.” Mimosa backs up, spins in a full circle, then hops back on the couch with a defiant flair. Later, when his mom asks him to “fix that attitude,” the pup obediently uncrosses his paws — only to sneakily cross them again.

By the time the video wraps up, you realize you’ve basically just watched a comedy sketch — only this one’s led by a talking puppy with impeccable timing. With nearly 77K likes and counting, fans clearly can’t get enough of Mimosa’s dramatic “debates.” One viewer loved his sass: “The slow re-cross literally had me laughing out loud. I love y’all.”
