Video: Owner Can’t Understand Why Dog’s Tail Is Making Noise Until She Realizes What’s Causing It

Dogs have a funny way of turning the tiniest things into a full-on comedy show — and that’s exactly what this furbaby pulls off with his tail wagging, making a weird noise in the video. Brees, a Golden Retriever, is one of those pups who wears his heart on his sleeve — or in this case, his tail. Whenever his human walks into the room, his wagging goes into overdrive.

Usually, it’s just plain adorable, but this time, his wagging came with a weird little twist. Each enthusiastic swish of his tail against the floor created the oddest scratching sound, leaving his human baffled.

Owner realizes dog’s tail is making noise because of leaf stuck underneath in video

The video, captioned “i liked that noise maahm,” opens with the dog sprawled comfortably on the floor, tail sweeping back and forth with gusto as it makes a weird noise. At first, it looks like normal tail-wagging happiness — until you hear that scratchy sound every time his tail hits the floor.

The in-video text even reads, “Couldn’t figure out why bubby’s tail was making a scratching noise.” His human is finding the whole thing funny, but she’s also curious about the noise. She leans down to investigate. But every time she gets closer, Brees wags harder, because he’s just so happy that his mom is close by.

The noise gets louder, too, which only adds to the mystery. She finally holds his tail still, and there it is — the big mystery solved: just a dried leaf stuck underneath. The ending is absolutely adorable, with his human chuckling as she tells him, “It was a leaf.” Brees looks perfectly pleased with himself for having composed this music.

The video has more than 98.7K likes, and fans are going wild about everything from his sploot to his little paws and chubby tail. One person summed it up best: “That’s so cuuute.” Another wrote, anticipating the cooler months because of the presence of the dried leaf, “Ready for fall.” Clearly, Brees’ tail drama is the kind of wholesome content the internet can’t resist.
