Video Captures Changes in Dog After Owner Leaves Abusive Ex

Being in an abusive relationship has never done anyone good. While many think that only humans can relate to the pain of such a relationship, truth be told, dogs also suffer in silence in such a type of relationship. This Instagram video showing dogs changing behavior after a traumatic past is proof of how unhealthy relationship impacts them as well.

Dog’s behavior changes after owner leaves ex in viral Instagram video

Abusive relationships not only negatively impact human behavior but also dogs. And this viral Instagram video of Penny will prove the point. The video is the wake-up call for many as it urges them to leave the abusive partner because their pets “deserve to live in peace, just as much as you do.”

In a video by @rufflife.to.goodlife, the owner shows how her pooch’s behavior changed after she left her ex after four years of an abusive relationship. Talking about her canine emotions, the dog mom captioned the post with an emotional message. She wrote, “The truth behind the relationship that you’re afraid to leave behind: your dog can feel every bit of tension that you can.”

Even today, the pet parent gets “mad” for not seeing the change in Penny’s behavior during that time. However, she is now certain that she will “never” put her furbaby through the pain again. Through the clips, the owner urges people to “leave because they deserve it too.”

In the heart-touching video, Penny looks exhausted with her ears shot back and no appetite. Looking at her sad state, the owner even took the pooch to the vet, but nothing had improved Penny’s condition. But when she walked out of the relationship after a few months, Penny’s health improved drastically. She soon became a healthy and happy pup again at the new place.

Many users sympathized with Penny and shared similar experiences in the comment section. One user narrated, “My dogs aggressive/fearful behavior improved significantly after I FINALLY got my abusive ex to leave the house. They all became happy pups.”

Another mentioned, “I lived in a home with a reactive husband and wife-there was so much chaos, raised voices, crazy energy & anxiety. Me & my pets now have our own home and the difference in their behaviour in just 2 weeks is unbelievable. I only wish I’d gotten them out sooner. The three of us are now decompressing.” Others were “happy” for Penny and the owner’s new beginning. As per the account holder, this “post got over 6 million views & many collabs on TikTok some months back.”
