Feline behavior can be expected from felines, but a dog doing so is nothing short of hilarious and surprising. In a viral TikTok video, Odin, a huge Rottweiler displayed unexpected “cat-like” behavior in the way he fancied sitting in strange places. Though dogs prefer cozy spots like the couch, dog beds, or even the floor, Odin’s human companion recorded him lounging on elevated surfaces — just like a cat would do.
Video shows Rottweiler seated on fridge and table tops
Joking in the second part of a three-part series on how a Rottweiler named Odin has been acting like a cat, his two-legged human friend wrote, “My dog still thinks he’s a cat…and he’s getting even better at it! ”The caretaker added an amusing sound to the video, making it more hilarious as each clip progressed.
In the video, Odin had a unique personality, one that separated him from other Rottweilers. However, the twist was that the pup seemed to have chosen his personality straight out of a cat’s playbook. As such, the adventurous pup had mastered the art of climbing on elevated furniture despite his huge bulk.
The first clip showed Odin on top of the refrigerator, looking calm and relaxed. He looked into the camera with a composed expression as opposed to the dog lovers he had been leaving amused and bewildered by his cat-like actions.
In another clip, the large canine parched on the kitchen counter with his paws tucked in. He looked completely at ease, suggesting that it was not a rare mistake but a preferred habit. Like a sophisticated gentleman who opted for a vantage point to make any feline proud, Odin’s climbing tendencies invited various reactions from his followers.
A user referred to their own Rottweiler, commenting, “Please keep this video away from my Rottweiler.” The former added, “he doesn’t need any more ideas.” Another quipped, “Him on the counter, looks like he’s making a dating profile.” While some dogs have climbing tendencies, Rottweilers, famous for their muscular build and guarding instincts, doing so is not expected.
However, with how accustomed Odin’s human parent seems to his behavior, this could be the pup’s way of seeking attention. Conversely, he may have made a feline friend and picked up an unusual habit. Another reason is that it could be his way of observing his surroundings from a bird’s eye view, without any disturbance or potential danger. Or, Odin might just like peace and quiet, thinking there is no better place than high grounds to be in.
