Who Won the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show 2025?

The 2025 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show crowned a new winner in a thrilling finale that left dog enthusiasts across the nation cheering. As one of the most anticipated events in the canine calendar, this prestigious dog show continues to showcase the finest examples of man’s best friend, and this year was no exception.

A Giant Schnauzer named Monty won Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show 2025

A 5-year-old Giant Schnauzer named Monty was the winner of the Best in Show title at the 2025 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, held in New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden. Monty, with his sleek all-black coat and formidable presence, finally ascended to the pinnacle of dog show glory after reaching the final three years in a row. This marked a historic achievement as Monty became the first Giant Schnauzer to win the top prize at the event.

Monty’s triumph wasn’t just a moment of personal victory for the dog and his owner, Katie Bernardin, but also a significant milestone for the Working Group. His win ended a long drought for the group, which hadn’t produced a Best in Show winner since 2004. Bernardin expressed immense pride in Monty’s accomplishment, remarking on the dedication and hard work that went into preparing for the show. “Puppy did the damn thing,” Bernardin told Fox Sports.

The road to victory for Monty was no easy feat. With over 2,500 dogs from across the country representing 200 recognized breeds, the competition was fierce. Each contender had to first win their breed category before advancing to battle for one of seven group titles. Monty, having secured the Working Group title for the past two years, was a strong contender, but had previously fallen short of the ultimate prize. This year, however, his moment finally arrived.

As per Reuters, Judge Paula Nykiel, herself an experienced breeder and owner-handler, was tasked with choosing the Best in Show. Her decision came after careful consideration of each finalist’s adherence to breed standards, including their physical structure and behavior.
