A lost dog in San Francisco, California, could safely return to his owner thanks to the help of a homeless man. The canine escaped from where he was staying after getting spooked. After missing for a few days, people found him with an unhoused man. The Good Samaritan went above and beyond to ensure the pup was well cared for. The dog owner is now looking for the homeless man to thank him for his gesture.

On July 20, a dog got loose while staying with a pet sitter and escaped the property. The dog owner, Bob Eicholz, doesn’t blame the pet sitter. He noted that the dogs can be skittish and extremely fast. Moreover, the canine jumped over the fence and escaped.

Eicholz has two Whippets, both of whom have GPS trackers, as he frequently takes them out for walks. This dog breed is known for their speed and can run more than 30 miles an hour. After pup Wardy escaped, a woman tried to capture him but could only manage to grab his collar. Wardy swiftly backed out and left the collar and his GPS tracker behind with the woman.

After a few days, people spotted the lost dog with a homeless man. Eicholz had posted missing dog flyers and his information online, with many people helping him keep an eye out for the canine. The unhoused man found Wardy in a park and bought him everything a pup could need.

Eicholz told ABC7 News, “The homeless man bought him a little crate, a blanket, a pad, food, dog toys and kept him for two days. This is man who has nothing, and lives in this park.” Moreover, when a dog walker approached him to let him know Wardy already had an owner who was desperately looking for him, he willingly handed over the canine. He also insisted they take the blanket he bought for Wardy as the pup “loves this blanket.”

The Whippet is safe and sound in the comfort of his home. However, his owner is trying to look for the homeless man to thank him for taking such great care of his beloved dog. Eicholz also stated that he would like to offer him money or buy something he requires to show gratitude for going above and beyond for Wardy.
