Dog Spotted in India Carrying Severed Human Hand

In a startling incident at Lucknow’s King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in India, patients, attendants, and hospital staff witnessed a shocking sight. A stray dog wandered the hospital premises with a severed human hand in their mouth. Despite receiving alerts about the situation, the hospital staff reportedly made no efforts to deter the stray dog or retrieve the limb from their grasp immediately.

People were alarmed to see a dog carrying a human hand in their mouth at King George’s Medical University. Shockingly, despite being alerted, the hospital staff did not stop the canine or try to get back the hand, as per News18.

The incident unfolded on Friday afternoon on Mar. 15, drawing widespread attention. Pramod Gupta, an attendant accompanying his ailing mother for a routine check-up, was the first to witness the shocking scene.

He described the situation, saying, “It caused panic,” as some individuals fled while others snapped photos of the dog.

Eventually, bystanders reported the dog’s presence to the management. However, since the management did nothing, they gathered the courage to shoo away the stray dog themselves. The dog fled, leaving the severed limb on the floor.

Further, witnesses reported nearly half an hour passed without any staff member removing the limb. As a result, the dog returned and began to feed on it

KGMU management only took action when the picture of the dog with the severed hand went viral on social media. Subsequently, they chased away the dog.

Moreover, the hospital stated that the limb belonged to Sumit Kumar, a resident of Hardoi District. The man had suffered an injury from a wood-cutting machine and thus lost his hand. Dr. Sudhir Singh, spokesperson for KGMU, explained the patient had tied the limb to a stretcher while discussing reattachment options with doctors.

However, due to the limb’s condition, reattachment was deemed impossible, so the patient left it behind. The hospital has initiated an investigation into the incident.

On Saturday, Mar. 16, the KGMU administration returned the hand to the patient in the presence of local police.
