French Teen Dies in Tragic Dog Sled Crash Near Montreal

Authorities have confirmed the tragic death of a young French teen following a dog sled crash near Montreal. The incident, which occurred in the vicinity of St-Michel-des-Saints, Quebec, has left a community saddened by the loss. The 13-year-old, vacationing with family, succumbed to injuries despite efforts to transport him to a nearby hospital.

French teen, a tourist, dies in dog sled crash

In Quebec, Canada, authorities reported the tragic death of a 13-year-old French tourist in a dog sled accident on Monday, Feb. 19. As reported by Fox News, the incident unfolded in St-Michel-des-Saints, Quebec, about 80 miles from Montreal. The young boy, vacationing with his family, was rushed to the hospital but sadly did not survive.

The Quebec police responded to a call shortly before noon on Monday at a property located in St-Michel-des-Saints, Quebec, as per ABC News. According to Sgt. Frédéric Deshaies, initial investigations suggest that the teenager was involved in a dog sled ride and collided with a tree after the driver lost control.

In addition, authorities stated that the boy was a French national and had traveled to Quebec for a family vacation. He was immediately transported to the hospital after the accident. However, he passed away due to his injuries. 

A coroner will conduct an investigation into the teenage boy’s death, according to CTV News Montreal. On Tuesday, Feb. 20, a police spokesperson stated that investigators do not believe criminal negligence played a role in the boy’s death. However, they also mentioned that the police would be providing assistance in the coroner’s investigation process. 

This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the unforeseen risks that can accompany recreational activities, even in seemingly controlled environments. The loss of a young life in such circumstances is deeply saddening. As authorities continue their investigations, the community mourns the passing of the 13-year-old French tourist, emphasizing the importance of safety measures and vigilance in all outdoor pursuits.
