Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lost someone very near and dear to them early this year. Their pet dog, Guy. The royal couple was head over heels in love with the pooch. Guy has been a constant fixture in Meghan Markle’s life and has been with her through all the ups and downs. Here is everything we know about Meghan Markle’s dog Guy’s age and breed.

How old is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s dog Guy?

The age of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s late dog Guy was 10. The Duchess of Sussex shared the sad news on her Instagram on January 8, 2025.

Meghan Markle shared a lengthy tribute detailing how she met Guy. As per her post, the actress adopted the pooch from a dog rescue centre in Canada in 2015. Guy was “at a kill shelter in Kentucky,” and since he only had a “few days to live,” the star “swooped him up” and instantly fell in love with the pup.

The Suits star named the pooch Guy “because he was so small and frail.” Since the adoption, Guy and Meghan Markle have been best friends. From being on the sets, to being part of her engagement and wedding, to being on her side when she became a mom, Guy was with her “for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort.”

What breed is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s dog Guy?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s dog Guy was a Beagle. The dogs of this breed are loyal companions, funny, and full of cute expressions. These hunting dogs are also clever, curious, and energetic, and require plenty of playtime to exhaust their energy. Beagles usually stand 13-15 inches tall and weigh 20-30 pounds. Their lifespan is 10-15 years.

Meghan Markle’s beloved late dog Guy was also on her side while filming the Netflix series, With Love, Megan. As per People, in episode five of the series, the star says, “Guy’s always there — he’s my shadow. He’s been there with me in Toronto, in the U.K., back in Canada and California. Guy has a lot of stories to tell.” However, his demise has left a void in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lives.
