In an interview with Scottish talk show host Lorraine Kelly on December 6, 2021, the actor revealed Kal to be eight years old. So with some simple math, that means the dog is around 12 years old in 2025.
It’s unclear what Kal’s birthday is, since we weren’t able to find any posts from Cavill celebrating it or any interviews confirming it. That said, he said that Kal was 7 years old on Instagram on August 26, 2021, so his birthdate should be some time between late August and early December.

Originating in Japan as the Akita Inu, the American Akita is slightly larger and more muscular.. They are usually very affectionate, reserved, and loyal, with Cavill describing Kal as a dog who “behaves like a puppy half the time and a wise old man the other half.” The actor also credits Kal for saving his “emotional, psychological bacon plenty of times.”
