Many fans want to know more about Kelly Clarkson’s dog Henry, who has been seen many times on her popular daytime talk show. While the American Idol winner has many pets (she had 50 animals back in 2011), she has mentioned Henry on numerous occasions and has been seen walking with the pooch. Here’s everything we know so far about her celebrity dog Henry, particularly how old it is as well as information about its breed.
How old is Kelly Clarkson’s dog Henry?
It’s estimated that Kelly Clarkson’s dog Henry is at least eight years old.
Looking at various clips of her show as well as her social media, Clarkson doesn’t seem to have mentioned the age of her dog or much about when she adopted him. However, the oldest photo we were able to find of Henry was posted on Instagram on September 1, 2018 with him sitting between her two kids in the back of a car.
That means the dog is at least six and a half years old, though it looks large enough to be more than one and a half years old in the picture. That’s how we came to the estimate of eight years old, though Henry is likely older than that.
What breed is Kelly Clarkson’s dog Henry?
Kelly Clarkson’s dog Henry is a goldendoodle, which is an adorable name for a poodle and golden retriever mix. That might be a surprise given that Henry is has black fur, but that’s one of the possible coats — a rare one at that — for the breed.
Clarkson revealed Henry’s breed during a 2020 segment on her show when she interviewed actor Sean Hayes, who had then recently adopted another goldendoodle puppy.
She also mentioned that Henry was supposed to be a miniature goldendoodle, which is supposedly 15 to 18 pounds, but then she eventually realized that he was growing more than that. By the time of the segment, Henry was around 40 pounds.
After Clarkson divorced her then husband, Brandon Blackstock, in 2020, she said in USA Today, “I would cry a lot, as you do when grief happens, and my dog … Henry would come in and force his head under my arm and just sit there with me. And I was like, ‘Is there a man like this around?'”
