Why are dog allergy symptoms?

Question:

What are the symptoms that may mean my dog has allergies?

Answer:

There is a long list of symptoms that can indicate your dog is allergic to something, and the list includes most major organ systems. In dogs, skin irritations are the most prevalent symptoms and include inflammation, itching, scratching, and loss of hair. Allergic dogs may also exhibit intestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea; respiratory distress as evidenced by coughing, wheezing or sneezing; and other symptoms such as hives, anxiety or depression, watery eyes and nose, swollen eyelids, or ear infections.

The list of symptoms that may be due to an allergic response is nearly endless, and many of the symptoms overlap with other diseases. See your veterinarian for an accurate diagnosis.
