Man Helps His Dog Fight Off Two Coyotes With His Bare Hands

How far would you go to defend your dog? Would you fight off wild animals with your bare hands to keep your best friend safe? A man from Wisconsin had to do just that when his dog, Princess, was attacked by two coyotes on his property. Scott Schach was sitting outside at his home when he heard a commotion. At first, he didn’t know what he was hearing, but then he saw his 90-pound German Shepherd in a tussle with the unwelcome guests, and he knew he had to help.

One of Schach’s friends had a dog who was killed by coyotes a few years earlier, so he wasn’t about to let the same thing happen to his precious Princess. He tried to kick and punch the coyotes, but they refused to leave the fight. Finally, Schach grabbed one of the creatures’ tails. The coyote turned and bit his arm, and Schach tells CBS 58 that’s when he “got a hold of her leg and I just flung her, just gave her a fling, she bounced off my pickup truck, went up the front windshield into the night and that’s the last I saw of that one.”

With only one coyote left, Princess managed to get the best of the beast and grabbed it by the neck, pinning it down. Schach told Princess to let go, so she dropped the coyote and sat down while the wild animal ran off after its partner. Luckily, the first coyote’s bite didn’t even break Schach’s skin, and a trip to the vet confirmed that Princess also escaped without injury. Still, this story is a reminder that coyote attacks are frequent this time of year, and it’s important to take steps to keep your dog safe so you don’t have to resort to a bare fist brawl like Schach did.
