Dallas is a loving, happy dog with a big, goofy grin that only a Pit Bull can make. The two-year-old Pit Bull Terrier was surrendered by his former owners to a local shelter where he was found by Cause for Paws, a rescue group. When they got Dallas, he had heartworm and a cough, so they treated him and worked with the pup to make sure he was ready to be adopted.

Everything was going great, and Dallas was well on his way to getting a forever home. In fact, he was going to be featured on WRAL-TV during a local news segment. He was all set to be WRAL's "Pet of the Day" to help get the word out so that Dallas could find his forever home. But before the segment, a newscaster was asking Dallas's foster mom a few questions. When it came out that Dallas was a Pit Bull, a cameraman started talking into his microphone.

Suddenly the cameraman said that Dallas couldn't be the "Pet of the Day" because of his breed. Even the newscasters were surprised and asked if Dallas could at least be featured on the WRAL website. But they were told that he could not. WRAL's vice president said that after an incident on set several years before, no Pit Bull was allowed to be featured. Cause for Paws hopes to use this as a teaching moment and to get WRAL to change their policy. Dallas has since found his forever home despite the incident, and you can follow him on Facebook.
