Motherly Dog Escapes Kennel To Comfort Crying Foster Puppies

An Australian Shepherd named Maggie was staying in a kennel at Barkers Pet motel and Grooming in St. Albert, Canada. Maggie's puppies went up for adoption two weeks before, and Maggie herself was set to go to her forever home the next day. But even though her own puppies were gone, she wasn't quite done being a mama dog just yet.

In a kennel nearby, two foster puppies named Hannah and Kari had just arrived from Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society. During the night when all the humans left, Maggie heard the cries of the puppies, and her motherly instincts kicked in. She wiggled her way out of her own kennel and headed to where the pups were staying. She poked at them through the gate to their room with her nose and stayed by them for the rest of the night.

When the owner of the dog motel arrived in the morning, she found Maggie waiting by the puppies. She seemed to want to get into their kennel, so the owner let her in. Maggie immediately curled up with the little dogs and cuddled with them. The puppies were just as happy to have a mother figure close by. Maggie's new family came by to pick her up on schedule, and the puppies will be adopted within the week. But this shows just how strong motherly love can be.
