You Can Adopt Your Very Own TSA Explosives Detection Dog

It’s not that unusual to see a dog working with airport security to keep planes safe from explosives. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) uses dogs for their excellent noses in their bomb detection programs. But some dogs don’t quite make it through all the training they need, and others have earned a happy retirement after their years of service.

The TSA is looking for forever homes for those dogs, and they’re opening adoption to the public. Basically, it means you can adopt your very own bomb sniffing dog. So your home will be bomb free and you’ll have a new furry family member.

The TSA says that the dogs range from two to ten years of age and usually include German Shortaired Pointers, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, and Belgian Malinois. They are completely free to adopt, but you’ll have to fill out an application and travel to San Antonio, Texas where the dogs are located to pick them up. If you’re interested, you can can contact the TSA Adoption Coordinator by email at [email protected].
