Video: Golden Retriever Ignores Dad When He Comes Home Late

Some dogs view their humans’ schedule as a contract. And heaven forbid if that contract is broken by even a minute, they are ready to throw a complete tantrum. Rylee is one such dog. In the TikTok video posted by @ryleethegoldenpup, the on-screen text reads, “POV: Dad’s not home at 6p.m. sharp,” and you can just feel her little world wobble out of alignment. From that first shot, you can already tell she’s working through a tiny emotional saga; equal parts hope, betrayal, and maybe a smidge of treat-related optimism. Who needs any other mode of entertainment when you have a dramatic Golden Retriever at home?

And the internet clearly agrees; the video has racked up over 15k likes. At 6:00 on the dot, Rylee is politely waiting, looking at the door, convinced Dad will appear any second. By 6:08, she’s in position closer to the entrance, still giving him the benefit of the doubt (maybe he stopped to grab her a snack?). At 6:13, she’s in the hallway staring up at the wall like she’s fact-checking the clock, visibly disappointed.

Then the timeline spirals. At 6:23, she rushes toward the door, barks once, then shoots Mom a look that basically says, Can you please call this man? Minutes tick by — 6:25, 6:32, 6:36 — and her barks start sounding like she’s filing an official complaint. By 6:42, she’s furious; by 6:43, she hears him and launches into excited-but-offended barking, pacing like she’s ready to scold him through the door.

When he finally walks in, she’s thrilled for half a second… then remembers her tantrum. She grabs her bone, almost brings it to him, then spins away to resume ignoring him. The on-screen text even calls her out: “ignores dad once he’s home.” Mom adds, “You weren’t chewing the bone the whole time!” Eventually, though, she caves, because honestly, who can stay mad at Dad forever?
