A Google Street View photographer has captured a friendly Golden Retriever in over 1,000 snaps, with the pup giving them a tour of the island of Jukdo. The cute canine even waits for the photographer after losing them in the woodland, reports The Mirror.

Taking Reddit By Storm

Someone found the images of the dog while browsing Google Maps, and posted about their find on Reddit. “This dog followed the Google Earth guy,” they said. One Redditor said that the dog is called Maru, and is Jukdo’s “unofficial guide dog”, living on the island for seven years.

“Maru is known to be super friendly to tourists and locals. There is another doggo named Mingki on another island where she guides tourists too,” they said.

Another commenter said, “She naturally loves everyone and everything, especially walks with complete strangers”. A third commented, “I only want Google to direct me via Golden Retriever now”.

“Street view would be way cooler if this good girl was in every shot,” said another user.

A Street View Sensation

The small island of Jukdo sits in the Sea of Japan east of the South Korean mainland. In 2004, just three people, all from the same family, lived on the island. It’s also known as Boussole Rock, and is often popular with tourists due to the scenery.

But Maru isn’t the first dog to get viral fame through Google Maps. A stray dog in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi has over 80 five-star reviews on the website for being such a “good girl”. The pooch is always waiting in the same place in the hope of getting some food from tourists, and locals have named her Watermelon.

Meanwhile, eagle-eyed Google Maps users even saw what looked like a six-legged dog enjoying a walk in San Jose, California. Of course, it was simply a Street View glitch.
