As much as we love dogs, we might associate them more with making messes than tidying them up. But for one canine going viral on social media, keeping the neighborhood clean is the aim.

Popular on Social Media

A Redditor called PrincessPattycakes posted a video of their pooch to the AnimalsBeingBros subreddit. In the video, the Pit Bull Terrier is walking along the sidewalk carrying an empty soda bottle in their mouth, before dropping it on the ground next to a trash can ready for her dog parent to dispose of it.

The post proved popular with other users of the social media platform, one commenting “Sweet baby!! That happy tail says it all!” and another saying that she is “Such an adorable dog”.

The dog parent first posted a video of their dog on litter duty a year ago, with that post also popular on the subreddit. “Now we can detrash our ‘hood on every walk,” they wrote alongside the footage.

Other Litter Picking Dogs

She’s not the only dog to try their paw at litter picking, either. Five-year-old Podenco Millie made headlines last year for helping to keep the streets of Hereford, England tidy with her dog parent, 80-year-old Alfie Kitson.

Kitson and wife Judith, 75, rescued Millie from a shelter in Spain, where they lived, before moving back to the UK. “Millie is a very intelligent dog and seems to enjoy her little party trick,” said Kitson at the time, “A few people ask me why I do it, but I enjoy it, and so does Millie. Plus, it’s helping keep the city clean and tidy, which is our little good deed.

“All I have to say is ‘put that litter in the bin’, and she will pick it up and do it. Passersby seem to love it, and she always gets a little round of applause.”
