Human’s First Nap With Rescue Dog & Foster Puppy Turns Into a Full Cuddle Pile

A rainy afternoon can be the perfect excuse to stay on the couch, and this rescue dog video proves that. When you have a rescue dog and a foster puppy around, however, getting them both to settle down may be another matter. Mike Brown learned this when he attempted his first nap with Cactus and Cowboy. The two dogs had very different ideas about how the afternoon should go, but they eventually found their way into one cozy spot.

Human takes first nap with rescue dog and foster puppy

A video shared by @cactustherescue shows Mike Brown settling in for his first nap with his rescue mixed-breed dog, Cactus, and a foster puppy named Cowboy. As Brown walks toward the couch, both dogs follow him, seemingly ready to find out what he has planned.

Cactus has no trouble understanding the assignment. The rescue dog quickly climbs onto the couch and makes himself comfortable beside Brown. Cowboy, however, is much smaller and cannot get up as easily. The puppy makes several attempts to climb onto the couch, but each one falls short.

With Brown encouraging him, Cowboy keeps trying until he finally manages to pull himself up. Once the puppy joins Brown and Cactus on the couch, both dogs compete for their human’s attention.

Shortly after, Brown picks up Cactus and places him on his lap, giving the rescue dog a close cuddle. Cowboy stays nearby and begins sweetly nibbling on Brown, showing that he is not quite ready to settle down. His playful behavior was fitting for a puppy who, according to Brown’s caption, initially seemed to think the couch session was “play/bite time” rather than an opportunity to relax.

The caption explained that it was a rainy day in Miami, and Brown could tell Cactus was in the “mood to relax on the couch for a little.” Cowboy wanted to be included, too, although he apparently had a different idea of what the afternoon should look like.

Eventually, Brown turns his attention back to the little foster puppy. He picks Cowboy up and lifts him into the air before bringing him close for another cuddle. The interaction appears to help the puppy settle into the moment.

By the end of the video, the original nap plan finally comes together, although with considerably less space than Brown may have expected. Cactus and Cowboy are both lying beside him, with each dog tucked under one of his arms as the three drift off together.
