Looking at Quavo today, it’s easy to see that life hasn’t always been kind to him. The rescued Pocket Bully is still recovering from what rescuers describe as a “lifetime of neglect,” both physically and emotionally. Now, an emotional Instagram post is encouraging dog lovers to help provide the medical care and training he needs to start over.
Shelter dog who only knew a lifetime of neglect, now also knows that he matters
The video was shared by @iloverescue in collaboration with nonprofit rescue @legacyoflove805. It shows Quavo carefully making his way out of his kennel with short, unsteady steps. Text on the screen explains that he arrived at the shelter “carrying a lifetime of neglect.” While the full extent of his past is unknown, the clip adds that “his body and his behavior tell part of the story.”
That said, Legacy of Love looked beyond the Bully’s condition and committed to giving him the care he needs. Now, the rescue is asking the public to help fund his medical treatment and behavioral rehabilitation.
According to the caption, Quavo was rescued from the San Bernardino City Shelter with painful abnormalities in his front legs. These, per the uploader, are signs of “long-term neglect, and very limited socialization.”
Although he is now safe, his recovery is still underway. Rescuers say Quavo is learning how to live in a stable environment and will need structured training to build basic social skills. He has nipped kennel staff while guarding food and bedding, as well as a transporter during handling.
Even so, they have also seen encouraging signs. He accepted wearing a muzzle, did well during a veterinary visit, and has shown a friendly side that gives them hope for his progress.
The rescue also suspects pain may be contributing to some of his behavior. Quavo is currently undergoing medical evaluations, including imaging and blood work, to better understand his condition.
His rehabilitation is expected to cost between $2,000 and $3,500, a significant expense for the nonprofit. Even so, supporters have already stepped up. As of writing, more than 50% of the fundraising goal has been reached, bringing Quavo closer to receiving the treatment and training he needs.
