However, the moment Pesto finally sees his dad, he rushes toward him, and they embrace in a hug, making the scene even more affectionate and heartwarming.

This deaf rescue dog meeting his dad with wiggles is truly a wholesome scene. The clip was shared by @pestocattledog on Instagram and garnered a lot of views online. The video shows a pup named Pesto lying in the living room, not knowing that his dad has returned home.
The dog dad claps, but Pesto doesn’t move an inch or even look toward him. He claps two more times, and finally, the pup lifts his head and comes rushing toward his dad.
Both the man and the fur baby look equally happy to see each other after some time apart. Pesto starts wiggling and does a big stretch while greeting his dad. He gets plenty of scratches and pets from his favorite human and immediately starts barking to alert his mom that his dad is back home. The video ends with Pesto getting head scratches from his mom as well.
While the scene is simple, the revelation that the dog is deaf makes it even more emotional. The owner shared in the post’s caption, “We know heelers can be guilty of selective hearing (and I don’t doubt Pesto would actively choose to ignore us) but here is an example of how we know he does have an issue with hearing.”
They explained that generally, dogs immediately react when someone enters the house. However, Pesto doesn’t become aware if it isn’t in his line of sight. The paw parent added that this makes everything more confusing and sometimes scary for the pup.
Because of this, the owners have taken their time to build trust with their rescue dog, noting that there is still a long way to go. They concluded by saying they try their best and use different techniques to improve communication and make Pesto as comfortable as possible.
