Sometimes the simplest things, like a single doorstep, can feel like climbing a mountain when you are tiny. In this video by @michi.the.pup, a sweet Shih Tzu mix named Michi is melting hearts with his vertical struggle. This adorable puppy really wants to head inside to be with his mom, but those back legs just are not cooperating yet. He tries his absolute best to clear the ledge by doing some little jumps in the backyard. But all he can manage are endless hops!
Puppy’s attempt to jump and come inside with mom is way too adorable
The clip shows mom filming from the step up, while Michi stares longingly through the other, lower side of the step. He starts hopping in place while his mom asks if he wants to come inside to be with her. Being a mix of a sturdy lap dog breed, he has a solid body, but his jumping skills are still a work in progress.
He places his front paws on the step and stomps as hard as he can. It seems like he is trying to use pure willpower to lift his back half up. Mom keeps cheering him on while he takes a quick break to wag his tail at a mile a minute. He looks like he is actually sitting there calculating the exact physics of the move.
Mom starts a chant of “jumpy, jumpy” to keep his energy high. You can tell he is listening because he gets right back to his little jumps. There is one big moment where he almost gets his lower body over the edge. Mom exclaims that he was so close to making the leap.
One viewer called him the cutest jumping bean they have ever seen. Another fan joked that he might be a dog that never quite figures out how steps work. This puppy definitely has the determination, even if he currently lacks the height.
