Living life with an anxious pup means anything loud or sudden is a major event. Cactus is a sensitive rescue dog who spent his early days in the California desert before finding his family. Thankfully, his dad is always ready to jump into action when things go wrong. In this new video, a cozy moment on the couch between the rescue dog and his dad turns into Clumsy Central. But it was nothing that a lot of extra attention and love from his human couldn’t fix.

The scene begins with Michael and Cactus snuggling peacefully on the sofa. Then Michael gets up to grab something, and Cactus decides to use all that extra room for a massive roll. He clearly doesn’t realize how narrow the cushions actually are and tumbles right off the edge. “Cactus fell off the couch and hit his head on the coffee table,” Michael shared in the caption. It makes a very loud sound that definitely shakes him up. He sits up immediately but looks totally confused by the floor.
His dad turns around right away to be with Cactus. He uses a very soothing voice to check on him. He holds the dog’s face and asks if he is okay, as Cactus just stares at the floor while processing the shock. Michael hauls the big guy onto his lap for some serious reassurance.
This video shows one of the ways to handle a startled pet. One fan mentioned that “cuddles and kisses are the perfect way” to fix any injury. It works every single time. Cactus leans into the crook of his father’s neck for a deep nuzzle. “The older Cactus gets, the more he acts like a little human toddler,” a viewer pointed out. He stays there until his heart rate slows down.
Michael asks him if he feels better while planting a kiss on his cheek. In the video, the rescue dog finally starts to relax in the safety of his favorite person’s arms, his dad. The extra affection clearly did the trick. The final shot shows the pair sleeping together on the couch. The dramatic fall is completely forgotten.
