Bruce is a young pup in San Francisco who is still learning that fireplaces aren’t for exploring. He lives his life over at @brucewiththefur and usually spends his time being a total sweetheart. But this new video catches him in a situation where this Golden Retriever puppy is found guilty of a bit of a mess. He is sitting on his bed, his eyes wide. But he has soot on his forehead. Evidently, he is not a very good liar.

Mom asks him what he did. And he just looks away immediately. He acts like he doesn’t even hear her. It’s that classic puppy behavior where they are just too goofy to hide anything. He is basically staring at the floor, hoping the black smudge on his face will just disappear. But the soot is making it very obvious he was somewhere he wasn’t supposed to be.
Then, Mom moves the camera over to the fireplace. She asks if he went in there. And Bruce just looks right at her. He has this look that says it definitely wasn’t him. He is totally defiant about it. But “the verdict is in,” and mom declares him guilty right there on the spot.
