The second the front door clicked open, Yume knew there was something different about the apartment. Her owner over at @yume_thecorgi was just bringing her back from a walk, but the air was telling a different story. Her dad had been away on holiday for an entire week and was currently pulling a stealth mission under a blanket. In this video, you can actually see the moment the dog catches her dad’s scent, and her brain just short-circuits. She’s basically a “clingy Corgi” who doesn’t do well with boundaries or separation. And she was not about to let this mystery go unsolved.
Dog catches dad’s scent even when he’s hiding
She starts pacing the living room with her nose pinned to the floor. It is like she’s trying to will him into appearing just by sniffing. She goes right up to the couch where he’s buried under a throw. But she doesn’t quite put the pieces together yet. She gets so restless, she starts sprinting between the kitchen and the couch like she’s looking for a ghost.
One person in the comments noted how you can really see the “ramp up of excitement” as she realizes he is actually somewhere in the room. But then she finally just launches herself onto the cushions. She lands right on her dad, and the realization hits her like a freight train. Her tail goes from zero to a hundred. It’s a total blur of fur.
She starts digging at the blanket and throwing her whole body into the reunion. And when he finally emerges, the “love attack” is too real. She’s booping his nose and licking him so hard he has to fake-complain about the intensity. But she doesn’t care. She missed him way too much.
“Reunited after a week!” the caption says. Though, as one person pointed out, a week in dog years is basically three months. She still looks like she can’t believe he’s actually back. The video has over 57k likes because everyone knows that feeling of a pet who loves you a little too much. It is just pure, unscripted wiggles. “I love it when they get so excited they can’t hide the wiggles anymore,” another viewer shared.
