Everyone knows that a trip to grandma and grandpa’s house usually means a break from routine life. Lenny, the star of @lenwichthegolden, has taken this concept further by treating his family visits like a five-star vacation. The San Diego Golden Retriever‘s parents recently shared a video documenting his luxury itinerary, which includes private boat rides and relaxing pool dips. He clearly knows how to work the staff (read: family) to his advantage.

Lenny explains that he starts every morning by “violently” waking up his parents before sprinting into the main house. From there, it’s a straight three-hour marathon of a game he calls “Bitey Face” with his cousins (two other dogs). Things usually get a bit too rowdy indoors once the cat gets involved. That leads to a quick banishment to the yard, though Lenny doesn’t seem to mind the change.
Once there, he claims he won’t go in the pool, but the water is always too tempting to ignore. Afterwards, his strategy is actually quite brilliant: he convinces his grandpa that a boat ride is necessary since he’s already wet. He literally suggests being manipulative to get what you want, and the results are pretty hard to argue with. There is nothing like the wind in your ears while sprinting across a sandbar. Every minute on the water looks like pure, unadulterated joy for the pack.
The only real downside to his resort lifestyle is the inevitable bath time that follows the boat trip. Lenny accepts his fate, even while looking slightly ridiculous wrapped in a tiny head towel. Watching this Golden Retriever in the video proves that his vacation game is on another level. He only acts calm when it’s time for dinner with his humans. He stays under the table and waits for table scraps or a kiss from grandma, or when it’s cuddle time in front of the TV.
With over 12,100 likes, fans are already asking for the nightly rate of this furry paradise. One viewer joked that their new resolution is to be as manipulative as Lenny. Grandparents’ home really is “the perfect destination” for a pup needing a break.
