Video: Daycare Dogs Have the Most ‘Uncommon Names’ & Users Pick Their Favorite

If you’ve ever visited a dog park, you know the roll call can sound like a mix of a preschool class, a celebrity guest list, and a dessert menu. From names like Charlie to Cheeseburger, pet parents rarely hold back when it comes to showing their furry friends’ personalities through their names. At one dog daycare, those names turned into internet entertainment after a playful video revealed just how uncommon — and delightful — their choices really are.

Daycare reveals dogs’ ‘uncommon names’ in viral video

Nico’s Doggy Daycare recently posted a lighthearted video on Instagram showcasing its pack of dogs with names that stand out from the ordinary. The clip begins with a sweeping shot of the daycare room before zooming in to introduce each dog by name.

First up is Samantha, a German Shepherd whose serious demeanor makes her human-like name all the more fitting. Next comes Custard, a tiny Dachshund whose sweet, dessert-inspired name seems to match his small size.

The lineup continues with Martin, a Dalmatian with a goofy smile, followed by Gus, a fluffy Goldendoodle, and Angus, who appears to be an Australian Shepherd.

Then there’s Crixus, a wolf-like mixed breed whose strong name sounds straight out of history, and Sandy, a cheerful Pit Bull with a softer touch. Frank, a stocky English Bulldog, quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his no-nonsense expression.

Other standouts include Wilbur, a gentle Golden Retriever, Florence the English Cocker Spaniel, Dudley, the second Dalmatian of the group, and finally Lil, a dainty Poodle who closes out the roll call.

The quirky list of names quickly drew reactions from viewers who picked their favorites and added their own commentary. One viewer laughed, “Frank is the Frankiest Frank I’ve ever seen!”

Another noted, “Samantha is from I Am Legend,” connecting the Shepherd to Will Smith’s famous movie sidekick. “This has to be the happiest place on earth! Not Disneyland! And Gus is still my fave! Frank is very cute too!!” one person wrote.

Many agreed that giving dogs human names added to the fun. “Human names on a dog are just fab! My faves have to be Dudley and teeny Custard,” a commenter shared. Another teased that Martin seemed particularly pleased with himself: “Martin is very, very proud of those teeth of his.”
