Video: Bulldog’s ‘Intense Dream’ Has Users Leaving Fun Guesses on What It Might Be

If you’ve ever sat and watched your dog nap, you must’ve noticed the small bursts of activity that happen during their sleep. A paw kicks out, their face twitches, or they let out a sound halfway between a snore and a bark. Most of the time, these little moments are fleeting. However, one Bulldog’s dream was so intense that his owner caught the whole thing on video, and the internet couldn’t resist weighing in with some guesses.

Owner records Bulldog having an ‘intense dream’ in viral video

The video, shared by @dusty.thebulldog, shows an English Bulldog sprawled out on the floor with his face pressed down against it. Onscreen text humorously reads, “My land seal is having a very intense dream.” Every couple of seconds, the dog’s face and body twitch in unison, giving the impression that he’s caught up in something dramatic behind closed eyes.

In the post’s caption, his owner asked viewers what they thought the pup was dreaming about. The question turned the comments section into a guessing game, with people offering their most creative takes. One user imagined the Bulldog “swimming in the ocean with the real seals.” Another joked that he was chasing down “a big fat juicy steak or a piece of beef.”

Others kept it simple and heartwarming, suggesting he was lost in visions of “biscuits and belly rubs.” A few leaned into classic dog instincts, saying he was likely dreaming of “an occasional squirrel chase,” but admitted that food probably topped the list most of the time.

Experts explain that twitching during sleep is completely normal for canines. Just like humans, they go through different sleep stages, including rapid eye movement (REM), when most dreaming happens.

During REM, the brain is active, and the body may act out small fragments of the dream, leading to movements like paddling legs, facial twitches, or even quiet whimpers. For the most part, this behavior is harmless and simply a sign of healthy brain activity.

If your pup seems restless, you can gently reassure them by speaking softly, but it’s best not to wake them unless absolutely necessary.
