There’s a thin line between a “mischievous dog” and the best entertainment you could ask for at home. While many owners turn to training to tame the chaos, others see that very chaos as the heart of their dog’s charm. For one Golden Retriever duo with a huge online following, their owner believes obedience school could dull their quirks, and she’s not about to take that chance.
Video: Owner shares hilarious reason why she fears sending her dogs to trainer
Chase and Chester, a father-and-son Golden Retriever pair, have won over more than 530K Instagram followers with their playful personalities. Their account is filled with moments that showcase just how much of a handful (and a joy) the two dogs can be. On September 3, their owner uploaded a video that had fans laughing and nodding in agreement.
The clip shows the two Goldens standing tall on their hind legs, front paws propped against the kitchen sink. From the angle, it looks almost as though they’re about to roll up their sleeves and start doing the dishes. Their owner jokingly asks them if that’s the plan, before adding an onscreen caption explaining her real concern. “I’m scared to send my dogs to a trainer because what if he fixes them and they’re not funny anymore…”
She doubled down in the video description, sharing a bit more about their personalities. Chester, the dad, was described as a “total menace” around the house, always finding trouble and keeping things lively. On the other hand, Chase earned the title of a “terrible walker,” with a habit of pulling or refusing to cooperate on leash outings. Both flaws, however, are portrayed as endearing qualities rather than problems to be solved.
The video’s popularity spilled straight into the comments. Fans treated the Goldens like internet celebrities. “Training abandoned for the greater good,” one follower joked. Another called the pair, “Two good boys if you ask me.” Someone else even promoted them to dishwasher assistants, writing, “It’s called the pre-wash.” And with one fan’s final word, “Don’t fix what ain’t broken,” the consensus was sealed: Chase and Chester’s chaos is here to stay.
