Petrodex Breath Spray

Petrodex Breath Spray (1 biscuit)

Our take: You spritz this breath freshener right into your dog’s mouth, and it’s supposed to help keep her teeth clean as well as improve her breath. I tried it out on my dog, Ginger, and didn’t notice any difference in her breath, although she didn’t exactly cooperate with the test. What’s more, I noticed the spray contains xylitol, which is on the no-no list from the ASPCA’s Poison Control Center. The Petrodex folks say there’s very little xylitol in the product, but why give your dog any amount whatsoever of something toxic to dogs?

The dogs weigh in: Well, I’m sure some dogs would keep their mouths open while having breath freshener sprayed down their throats, but not my Ginger. Perhaps her jerking her head around like a cornered weasel had something to do with the product not working.
