An Idaho couple has realized a lifelong dream of opening a doggy daycare and grooming business in Idaho Falls.

A Doggy Daycare Years in the Making

Michelle Martin has been working with animals for 30 years. She and her husband, Brenden, run a nonprofit that saves pups from being euthanized at animal shelters. The couple then trains them to be service dogs and places them with veterans.

Now, the animal lovers are also the owners of Diggs Playhouse, which provides training, boarding, and grooming for canines seven days a week. Whether you need some guidance on teaching your dog how to walk on a leash, curb troublesome jumping and barking habits, or simply seek a safe place for your pup to stay while you’re on vacation, the business offers the appropriate services.

In the month since the company opened, the couple has seen all kinds of dog breeds, from Golden Doodles, Labs, and Huskies to Border Collies, Pugs, and Shepherd breeds.

“We get quite a few different ones,” Martin told EastIdahoNews.com.

Puppy Love

Martin, who is from Montana, has a professional background as a vet tech, and has ample experience in rescue services and with animal shelters.

The “unconditional love” she receives from animals is her favorite part of working with them.

“No matter what, they just love you,” she said. “I don’t think I could ever live without a dog or a cat.”

Even though the canine clients at Diggs Playhouse aren’t Martin’s fur babies, she treats them as such.

“These dogs are like our family. Some of these dogs I’ve known since they were puppies and they’re 10, 13 years old,” Martin said. “They become your pet just as much as the owners.”

The five-star reviews of Diggs Playhouse back this up.

“Needed a last minute place to board my dog over a holiday weekend,” Leslie Tomblin wrote on Google. “Diggs Playhouse came to the rescue! They came recommended to me and I will continue to recommend them. They are friendly, clean and well-set up for large dogs. My dog came home tired and in good spirits, signs of a good stay. Thank you for a great experience, we will return!”

“Great Boarder!” Darian King wrote on Google. “Had pictures emailed to me of our dog playing with others and having a great time within a few hours. Facilities are new and improving, will be using them again in the future!”
