White vinegar Our take: White vinegar can do an okay job but not as well as some of the products designed for removing urine. It's still the best choice of stuff that's usually at home, so if the oops incident catches you unprepared, use a mixture of white vinegar and water. Whatever you do, do not use ammonia because it chemically mimics urine and will actually cause your dog to use that spot again and again.
