Ernest E. Ward, Jr., DVM is the owner of E3 Management, a North Carolina-based consulting firm that helps veterinarians improve client service, profitability, and standards of care. He also is owner and chief-of-staff of Seaside Animal Care, a nationally recognized award-winning small animal practice. Dr. Ward writes for Veterinary Economics magazine and is author of Creating the Veterinary Experience: Developing Effective Staff Communication (2000 E3 Press), and Creating the Ideal Veterinary Appointment (2008 E3 Press), book and videotape staff training series and is Editor and author of three editions of Canine and Feline Custom Care Client Handouts (2008 LifeLearn). Dr. Ward is the current veterinarian for the Rachael Ray Show and is a spokesperson for Rachael's Rescue. He has been featured on NBC Nightly News, Animal Planet, CNN, Animal Radio and numerous television and radio talk-shows around the country. Dr. Ward received the "Speaker of the Year" award from the 2004 North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Since 1999, Dr. Ward has served as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for Veterinary Economics, a monthly international business and management magazine for over 60,000 veterinarians. He lectures at veterinary conferences nationwide on practice management, communication skills, health and wellness, client education, senior pet care, managing long-term medications, and general practice topics. During his lectures, Dr. Ward shares examples of successful management, communication and marketing strategies from his award-winning small animal hospital.

Dr. Ward's practice management and medical articles have been published in Veterinary Economics, AAHA Trends, Veterinary Hospital Manager's Association Quarterly, Clinician's Brief, Compendium, Veterinary Practice News, Focus Magazine (Canada), Canadian Vet, The Veterinary Business Journal (England) and Companion Animal Practice (Japan). He has authored a series of general veterinary practice article articles scheduled to be published in China's largest veterinary publication Beijing Companion Animal Veterinary Magazine in 2009.
Dr. Ward graduated from the University Of Georgia College Of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He is a Founding Member of the Association of Veterinary Practice Managers and Consultants and holds memberships in the American Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Veterinary Communicators, North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association and is an Associate Fellow of the Veterinary Laser Surgical Society. Dr. Ward is the founder of the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention and host of The Pet Heath Connection. Dr. Ward is a Certified Personal Trainer and competitive Ironman triathlete including qualifying and competing in the inaugural Ford Ironman 70.3 World Championships in 2006 and the Southeast Regional Triathlon Championships (NC, SC, VA) and Escape from Alcatraz triathlon in 2008.
