Andrea Arden can be seen on Animal Planet's Dogs101, Cats101 and Underdog to Wonderdog. She is an animal behavior counselor, rescuer, author, speaker, and a resident pet expert on the Today Show. Her appearances also include 20/20, Dateline NBC, Live with Regis & Kelly, The View, CBS News, CNN, Fox, PBS, Fox News, and Lifetime, as well as numerous radio shows. Andrea's first foray into television was as the trainer for The Pet Department, FX's Emmy award winning daily show.
Andrea is the author of five books, including Dog-Friendly Dog Training (Wiley, 2009), Train Your Dog the Lazy Way (Macmillan, 1999), and The Little Book of Dog Tricks (IDG, 2002), and she has been the behavior columnist for Dog Fancy and The New York Dog magazines as well as a contributing writer for the AKC Gazette, Puppies USA, Modern Dog and numerous other publications. She has been featured in the New York Times and People magazine, as well as the pages of USA Today, the Daily News, and the New York Post.
Andrea is a Charter member and served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer through the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers and a Certified Pet Partners Team evaluator for the Delta Society and the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.
As the Director of Andrea Arden Dog Training, she was named the 'Best Dog Trainer in New York' by: New York, W, Time Out and Quest magazines the Daily News. She has had the pleasure of working with celebrity clients such as Robert DeNiro, Conan O'Brien, Jon Stewart, Lenny Kravitz, Iman and David Bowie, and Nora Jones, amongst many others.
Andrea takes a decidedly dog-friendly approach in her endeavors to teach people how to better teach and care for their canine companions in an effort to best ensure that each dog stays with their family for a long, happy lifetime. Her dedication to animal rescue has fueled her passion to help decrease animal surrenders to shelters as a result of behavior problems by helping to spread the word about puppy classes, early and ongoing socialization, and taking a dog-friendly approach to teaching our canine companions. Andrea currently serves on the Board of Directors of Animal Haven Shelter in New York City, where the mission is to finds homes for abandoned cats and dogs throughout the Tri-State area, provide behavior intervention when needed to improve chances of adoption and to offer programs that enhance the bond between animals and people.
