What I like about my dog
Her energy and love for people. Her company. Those funny quirks that make me smile. How one minute she's frightened by something new and next independent and confident.
What my dog likes best about me
Besides treats, probably that I try to play with her whenever I can even if it's only a few minutes at lunchtime.
Number of people I've met through my dog
On the walking trail, about a hundred so far.
If I didn't have a dog, I'd like a...
another nice cat. Fantasy pet: a gentle horse
11-15-09 Added 5 news pics including Autie on the trail; in her "pupcake" sweater (thanks, Lulu!); in Halloween bandana; The Bitz outside; and most important, our HAPPY GOTCHA DAY pic--Autie with her dog cookies and our cake.
Today is the first anniversary of the day I got Autie, age 8 mos. What a stressful week that first week was but we survived, buddy! We celebrated with an extra long walk, the treats, and lots of love hugs and playtime.
8-12-09: Added 3 new Autie pics including--finally--a picture with a "smile". In that mood, it's hard to get a shot of her because she never stands still.
7-3-09: Added a "Tribbles Tribute" pic. She was a sweet dog and great companion.
6-15-09: Added photos to gallery including scaredy-cats pic with Bitz under a bed.
If you want to see me just check out the How We Met section on this site and search under "T" for Tammy & Autumn.
| 11/17/09 03:30 PM | Changed cupcake to PUPcake! It's perfect. I think we got a new brand on our hands. — ShiraKhan |
| 11/17/09 12:35 PM | The things we put on them & do to them, LOL I love it — karen |
| 11/17/09 10:33 AM | Def recognize the path!!! "Pupcake" that is too cute!! Could be a new nickname for Autie!! — Teri |
| 11/16/09 07:37 PM | Ahh love the new pics. Autie looks so cute in her 'pupcake' sweater! And what a sweet picture of Bitz. — Lulu |
| 11/16/09 01:55 PM | M: I'm glad you stopped by to see our new pics.Recognize the area? Year went by so fast I think we must be in some kind of time warp! — ShiraKhan |
| 11/16/09 10:45 AM | Wow!!! It's been a year!! That went soo fast!!! Thanks so much for the thanks! I knew it would work out. Dogs have a special way of doing that to us!! Love the new pics!!! — Teri |
| 11/15/09 06:28 PM | A special thanks to Marty who supported me when I was stressed with my hyper new pup. You kept me going, girl! — ShiraKhan |
| 11/15/09 05:10 PM | HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, AUTIE! I don't deserve you; you're the tops! I love you always. Here's to many good years to come. You have your Claudia's Cookies today and we get cake to celebrate. Wish Tribs could be here, too, and our online pals. — ShiraKhan |
| 11/13/09 04:19 PM | Saw that doxie/baby clan man again yesterday.I worry he'll crash and out will come all the babies! Saw booties btw for dogs at PetSmart. I'm sure Autie would do the tip-toe dance with those. — ShiraKhan |
| 11/12/09 07:18 PM | Sounds like Autie needs a raincoat and little boots for her paws; then she could go for a short walk. We have had rain too and Molly isn't too thrilled to go out either. Loved your entry about the Doxies riding with the family. That was a sweet one. — Linda |
| 11/12/09 05:28 PM | Rain rain go away, come again another day...no walk today. Autie says "I'm bored" with her eyes to me. We'll cross our fingers for a patch of dryness tomorrow afternoon. — ShiraKhan |
| 11/09/09 06:50 AM | HI Ijsut clipped the hair around Moe's eyes, he looks so cute. He had his favorite snack of cat poo last night before I even realized what he was up to. Then I had to chase him all around the house, he just cracks me up — karen |
| 11/07/09 05:35 PM | A & I saw on trail mom & dad on bikes. Dad had a baby in child seat on back of bike, one in front--in front of that baby was a big wire basket w/2 dachsie mix dogs riding quietly. A full load! — ShiraKhan |
| 11/06/09 06:51 AM | HI, Moe is 5 months old — karen |
| 11/05/09 07:23 AM | HI, Autie looks just like Moe & Molly, I have had Moe for almost 2 months, I adopted him — karen |
| 11/04/09 03:59 PM | Autie has been pracitcing her turning trick and can do it 3 times in a row now. I think it's fascinating the innate skills each of our dogs has. All you have to do is bring them out with a little repetition and an encouraging treat. — ShiraKhan |
| 11/03/09 08:17 PM | Remember how I said Molly was chewing less? Well, last week as we sat here by the computer I thought she was chewing on her toy, but no. My slacks have several holes thanks to Molly. She also got the speaker wire. Go ahead, just laugh it wasn't Autie. — Linda |
| 10/24/09 10:33 AM | Hello friend! So what's Autie gonna be for Halloween? — Lulu |
| 10/22/09 08:17 PM | I think Gracie and Georgie get confidence from being "a pair" like people do. Autie took no notice today of the spooky house. If she'd been on a strong scent trail she would've missed it the first time, too. — ShiraKhan |
| 10/22/09 09:21 AM | That is so cute. She is so aware. I don't think my dogs would even notice a Halloween decoration....now a person or a dog.....Gracie....grrrrrrr — Teri |
| 10/21/09 02:08 PM | Thank you so much. Your dog is beautiful. — Kristen |
| 10/21/09 12:54 PM | Green Halloween skulls & tombstones scared Autie...on a house we've passed many times. She has keen eye when things are different. We sat 5 mins while she quit pulling on the leash (trying to get to our car). Soon she was fine and we finished our walk. — ShiraKhan |
| 10/19/09 07:20 PM | Molly has been somewhat better in most areas. No woodwork for months and no shoelaces for even longer. She does still like to mouth fingers at times, but I keep a supply of Nylabones or other chew toys around. She and I had cuddle time today. I enjoy that — Linda |
| 10/18/09 09:26 AM | We have had several days of pouring rain and Molly like Autie is not fond of it. Haven't tried a rain coat but with the rain we've had it would have help keep her drier. Like your new pics of Autie and your cat. The angel wings were really cute. — Linda |
| 10/16/09 08:51 PM | I know what you mean..at 1st it was overwelming for me but then I got into it & now it's an addiction! I still love my dogtime family & I check in daily! — Lulu |
| 10/15/09 04:53 PM | Hello friend! Came to visit. Yes I'm hanging out at Dogster alot but I still check in at Dogtime. Can't forget my dogtime friends! How are your little furballs? — Lulu |
| 10/14/09 07:56 PM | Yeah I wonder what will happen when we're really out on the trail and she is walking like a robot--I'm not sure if it'll be any fun for her like it is for me to see her looking cute. — — ShiraKhan |
| 10/14/09 01:17 PM | LOL! I know what you mean..my Mom got a raincoat for the dogs....wanna talk about awkward!! They hate it! But they do look cute :) — Teri |
| 10/13/09 04:34 PM | Downpour today. No walkies but did try out rain vest and it keep A's torso nice and dry. But she walks funny in it as though it's made of plaster and will break. — ShiraKhan |
| 10/12/09 07:25 PM | When I sleep in on the weekends, Autie follows my lead.On Sat., she's puzzled I'm not getting up at six but then goes back to sleep. By Mon., she's sleeping in while I get ready, going from crate to my spot on the bed. .I wish then I could sleep in, too! — ShiraKhan |
| 10/11/09 04:01 PM | Autie gets chew bones but doesn't chew like when a pup--they are badly hidden all over the house under pillows and behind cushions, under furniture. I'd love to see her eat one but guess she's saving them for a rainy day. — ShiraKhan |
| 10/10/09 08:51 PM | I hear ya on the Furballs.I just don't have time to comb out everyday and even if I did there would be those little tangles on the feet and under her arms. They never seem to stop coming. BTW, I hear Lulu is hanging out at Dogster. Must stop by there soon — ShiraKhan |
| 10/10/09 08:49 PM | Thanx for stopping by.I have some energy now that weather is cooling.Didn't realize how taxing heat is for both me and Autie on a walk. Esp when humid. Just took more pics today, cat included, bec it has been so nice out. Dreamy! — ShiraKhan |
| 10/10/09 07:56 PM | Thought I'd stop by and see if you had added any pics or comments. You are very good at writing comments about your day with Autie. We just had Molly groomed; not as short as the summer cut. She goes every 8-9 weeks. Really keeps her hair more manageable. — Linda |
| 10/07/09 03:57 PM | Yup, back to Carole's on Oct.19.Something a bit longer than a puppy cut, I think. That should put us through another 3 months considering it's not quite as short as a puppy cut which lasted 4 mos. — ShiraKhan |
| 10/07/09 09:44 AM | It's probably been 2 months...I'm like you..should do it one more time before it gets really cold. They look so much better & are alot easier to maintain. You going back to Carole's? — Teri |
| 10/06/09 04:18 PM | Ahhhhh....cute. I can see him now the little lightweight. Have you had them groomed lately? — ShiraKhan |
| 10/06/09 11:33 AM | O yea Georgie didn't get left out! He is the skinny cold guy! LOL. Of course his is blue. He was ready for it this morning......it was pretty cool!! :) — Teri |
| 10/05/09 03:46 PM | Autie's up for another cut--can't keep up with that tangling fur ball. One more before winter--we got new sweaters to wear, anyway, if winter's early. Didn't Georgie get a sweater? :-( — ShiraKhan |
| 10/05/09 09:57 AM | Cool!!! Gracie got the pink/black/white striped one!! The dogs will be well dressed & warm this winter!!! :) — Teri |
| 10/01/09 07:07 PM | T: Autie's got that 5 dollar pink sweater! I looked again and found one I liked--the one with the cupcake on it. I hope she likes it. Matches the nose. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/29/09 04:57 PM | We're from 98* to 78* overnight! Autie went crazy in park with wind in fur.Kept pulling but she is better than last fall at "stop", "come", and "stay".She wants to follow people sometimes; I keep her close. Not everyone likes dogs. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/27/09 12:02 PM | THANKS FOR THE COMMENT,WE LIVE ON A BIG FARM,DON'T HAVE TO GO ANYWHERE,PARADISE HERE.COME VISIT US ON DOGPAWFILE.COM — saje16821 |
| 09/26/09 01:12 PM | Good thing Autie likes fashion just like her Mom. Have you bought any matching pieces? Online I've seen a few dog/owner sweater sets or hats. That would be rather cute! — Linda |
| 09/26/09 01:10 PM | Have you finally had some cooler weather? Around here its been cool although last week we had some near 80 degree days. The leaves know fall is coming and yes Molly is sniffing and chasing them when she gets the chance. — Linda |
| 09/25/09 07:40 PM | AMEN to that! And let's not forget our kitties who also come running out to us. — Lulu |
| 09/25/09 06:47 PM | TGIF.TG for our dogs who greet us when we exit the cruel, indifferent world. There's nothing like coming home to a wagging tail and happy face! — ShiraKhan |
| 09/23/09 03:36 PM | It's fall! But still hot. Oh well. Autie & I run into many dogs & their people at trail who also want to beat the heat either in early morning or just before sundown. She is so much better at ignoring people & dogs but we need more practice. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/21/09 01:23 PM | I almost bought one but the ones I wanted didn't come in Autie's size! I'm always too late.I think it was one with pink in it or something. I'll keep looking. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/21/09 09:20 AM | Hurry, hurry, hurry....they have the $5 sweaters at Wal Mart right now. They go fast! Picked up Georgie & Gracies yesterday! :) — Teri |
| 09/20/09 06:52 PM | Ha! And a long time ago I swore I'd never have a dog inside the house! Well they're inside & wearing doggie clothes! — Lulu |
| 09/19/09 10:25 PM | (I swore I'd never become a dog clothes person but it's hard to resist those pretty outfits.) — ShiraKhan |
| 09/19/09 05:55 PM | Bought Autie a waterproof vest for rain.Last season we didn't walk if it was over a sprinkle but I love walking in rain and so does she.I think it looks professional on her. Next a fru-fru sweater, pink of course. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/16/09 03:24 PM | Debating if Autie should get another cut.Her fur is perfect now but like all cuts, that will change. Pretty sure she'll need some trimming if not a puppy cut again because her fur grows so long. I'd like her curly tail to grow out to skim the floor. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/14/09 07:18 AM | We got sprinkles! Woke to a little rain this AM which is a nice break from the heat, as was last night's breeze.Autie proudly tracked in her wet feet this morning. She's an early riser who enjoys grass, chasing her sister and watching for stranger cats. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/12/09 12:05 PM | UGH! Trail's trees are sticky-whether it's natural, disease, or spray, don't know but leaves & wood chips stuck to Autie's feet until she sounded funny when she walked. Foot wash once home. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/11/09 07:45 PM | Uh-oh, more fireworks! This time a nearby football game--that and CANNON FIRE if you can imagine how loud. Autie has been sitting on my feet with every BOOM. Is in her crate right now. Time to act as normally as possible. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/10/09 08:13 AM | I finally uploaded a few new pics of Molly Girl. Two of them are similar to Autie's body twist. The energy is unbelievable at times and with us being older Molly has a challenge dealing with old folks. I do believer that all is going well for both of us. — Linda |
| 09/09/09 07:01 PM | Finally after months of drought we got 3.5" of rain! The kids won't have 'crunchy' grass anymore! It's cooler so we can go out earlier on our walks. — Lulu |
| 09/08/09 07:56 PM | Molly gets some of those little mats especially if it has rained or there is dew on the grass. I keep bandage scissors to cut them out. I afraid she will move and I might stab her with regular scissors. She can be such a wiggle worm. — Linda |
| 09/08/09 07:53 PM | My niece's saving grace may be that she has two Doxie's. Her house won't be totally empty, but there will be a very large hole when he's gone. She posted pics of Fred on her FaceBook page. He looks good in his pics; Irish Red colored coat of long hair. — Linda |
| 09/08/09 07:00 PM | As those who've lost a pet know, there's a space between the lost pet and the one that comes after. For a time, Tribs little spot was what I went out to when I came home from work. She died in spring, a long summer, then Autumn came. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/07/09 02:54 PM | Grooming is still a challenge; more some days than others. I keep a brush by my chair and often do a light brush as I watch TV. Leg areas are always a challenge. Treats or another pair of hands help so do short but numerous brushing times. — Linda |
| 09/07/09 02:49 PM | I thought of you this weekend as my niece told of her declining Doxie and the heartbreak that is starting for them. No way to stop time and the events that are coming just support. Glad to read your found some peace tending Trib's resting spot. — Linda |
| 09/06/09 10:25 PM | Easiest way is to go to Autie's page-click on roses Ebony sent-Ebby's pic. pops up-click on pic. & it'll take you to Ebony's page. — Lulu |
| 09/06/09 04:58 PM | I found Autie on dogster!!!! The kids (Ebby & Wrinkles) left her a gift. Clicked on search dogster, dog names, enterd Autumn in name field, mixed breed, small 10-20lbs, clicked search at bottom & there she was!!! — Lulu |
| 09/06/09 02:59 PM | As Autie watched from grass, I cleaned up Tribs' spot. Raked, pulled weeds & cut bushes, added new soil, redid her marker, put up fresh roses, washed white fence around grave. She's at peace & so am I, to be able to do this for her today. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/06/09 12:33 PM | Oh wow what a blessing is cooler weather! And to see the hills again. Autie must've smelled every tree on the trail. She worked up an appetite and came home to play with her orange tennis ball in the yard. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/05/09 03:36 PM | My brother has been usurped as Autie's fav by my nephew, age 12. She took to him like a long lost friend. Maybe it's the scent of his dog, 2 cats and rabbit that make him seem so welcoming to her. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/05/09 12:27 PM | Thought you'd be interested--my doggies are also on dogster.com (kitty's on catster.com). You can visit our page at http://dogster.com/dogs/1019522 You should join. — Lulu |
| 09/02/09 07:32 PM | Autie got to see her fav person, my brother, while I was at work today. As usual, little problem with submissive urination. Don't think she'll ever grow out of that. She is happy hiding a bone right now after a busy day. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/02/09 07:31 PM | A bad man stabbed his Rott in the city today. Made my blood boil. Rott survived. Hear the nut is asking for his dog back. Further proof of his insanity was not necessary. Hope he gets it per the law. — ShiraKhan |
| 09/02/09 02:23 PM | No, I've not done the how we met. I feel a little guilty since we bought our baby from a breeder. Everyone I've read has rescued a pooch in need. The rescue group for Cotons did not have one in need at the time and that was the breed I wanted. — Linda |
| 09/02/09 06:47 AM | Saw you and Autie on How We Met. Good story and well written. The pic problem may be on my end too. I waited over 20 minutes the other day and no pic on my page. I finally got one of her upside down for you to compare with Autie. Now to down load it. — Linda |
| 09/01/09 05:00 PM | After all these months Autie still hates the front seat of the car. I suppose it's easier to let her be in the back, and safer, but I compare her to Tribs, who always loved the front, right next to me. Autie remember the wipers and is still wary of them. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/30/09 09:13 PM | I think we all must be crazy out in this heat. Even at 7:15 it was uncomfortable. Autie doesn't seem to notice until she gets water and takes about 5 minutes lapping it up quickly. And that's only after 15 mins outside. Looking forward to fall! — ShiraKhan |
| 08/30/09 03:29 PM | Felt so sorry for kidnapped Yorkies on It's Me or the Dog last night. Lucky they were saved but they were traumatized. I'm hoping Victoria Stilwell's help stuck even after the filming. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/28/09 02:54 PM | So far it's staying pink although I've heard sometimes the nose goes darker over the years. It's mostly pink. I hope it stays that way. Autie says thanks; she loves being different in a good way. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/27/09 10:37 PM | I thought I was looking at Linda's dog when I saw the home-page. I LOVE Autie huge nose-it's...just right there in front of you...all pink-n-black!!! — Lulu |
| 08/27/09 08:36 PM | Saw a "naked" Old English Sheepdog today. Cute. Fur shaved to the skin but head left furry, very pretty colors on skin part, grey and white spots. Walking calmly with owner on the phone. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/27/09 06:07 PM | Coton breed on Dogtime homepage at top looks like Autie--shape of nose and black skin. Except Autie's a throwback to pink. I really would like to know what breeds Autie is. Her shelter/vet papers all said different mixes: bichon, havanese, maltese, etc. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/24/09 09:21 PM | yeah! Dogtime's back up again. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/24/09 07:51 AM | With this heat the pounds should just melt away! — Lulu |
| 08/23/09 08:39 PM | Came upon a black cocker pup and her mom, of course, on the trail. Pup is gorgeous and seems to have a good temperament. Also ran into lots of joggers, strollers and bikes. Guess everyone is trying to lose weight before school & college are in full swing. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/23/09 12:18 PM | oh Autie is so cute you can see she has a deep meaning in her eyes.thanks for visiting us — arlivon |
| 08/21/09 10:02 PM | Just read your 'How we me' story. Love it! — Lulu |
| 08/20/09 08:37 PM | Thanx for voting our pal Bozley. EBONY & WRINKLES — Lulu |
| 08/18/09 08:52 PM | Thanks Lulu. Like yours too. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/18/09 07:03 PM | Ahh Iike Autie's new pics! My fav. is the smiley one. I've always liked her big pink & black nose. Send over & Ebony will teach to smile REAL big!!! My kids had a photo session too. — Lulu |
| 08/18/09 04:35 PM | Hey thanks Teri! I'll bet your Yorkies missed ya, huh? — ShiraKhan |
| 08/18/09 04:11 PM | Love the new pics!!! So cute!!! — Teri |
| 08/18/09 11:28 AM | That's a good idea Lulu. I'll give it a try next time when I have an extra hand about. A video would be good too. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/17/09 06:03 PM | How Cute!!! You should try getting a picture of that. — Lulu |
| 08/16/09 03:42 PM | I've got Autie dancing like a poodle. All she needs is a little pink tutu and she can put on a performance of her quick, standing double turns. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/15/09 11:13 AM | Time to brag: I guess bec Tribs was not as bright so I'm surprised at the diff but Autie recognizes so many words. She's like a toddler, knows ball and several people's names and the cat's. It's like she understands English. Cool. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/14/09 11:30 AM | Autie took off after a tiny leaf again and pulled me over with her. I am wondering how her strong prey drive could be exercised in a safe way, perhaps one of those long rods like big cat toys. Have to consider; don't want to encourage aggression. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/11/09 08:25 PM | I have seen them in area, loose, of course. Terrier wanted to rush me but I guess approaching people made it back off. Hate to pepper spray but I'm saving Autie and my ankles or more! — ShiraKhan |
| 08/11/09 08:23 PM | 2 dogs sneaked up on us. Autie at end of retract.leash--I yelled something, ran up, picked her up. Little dog nice but wirey terrier snarling with teeth. I took out Muzzle spray, came close to spraying. Luckily both dogs took off. No collars on either. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/10/09 06:54 PM | First day of work. I hear Autie did fine--I however missed her.She had a good day as usual: napping, begging, jumping into chairs and running around on the lawn. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/07/09 01:54 PM | You are blessed cause we're in the triple digit temperatures here. Today it's 102 degrees. Poor Wrinkles & Ebony can't go out till around 8:30pm for their walk. — Lulu |
| 08/07/09 10:14 AM | It's been in the 80's last 2 days. More natural variations that Autie and I love to indulge in--great air for an early or late walk, no baking in sun. We are blessed. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/04/09 02:55 PM | Bitz came running and I kept her in. Work is done & we are all looking for a quiet time now! Autie and B are gratefully asleep and I might sneak a nap too later. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/04/09 10:23 AM | Autie is doing good while work done around house, banging and drilling, etc.Am keeping her in room where crate is, checking on her a lot.Bitz on the other hand is out there checking out the mess.Cat's curiosity--no wonder they get in trouble. — ShiraKhan |
| 08/01/09 01:36 PM | The dog can get out of the yard & when it sees me outside in my yard it comes over because pet her & give her treats. I believe that if you don't have the time or the patience to care for a pet properly, you shouldn't get one. — Lulu |
| 08/01/09 01:29 PM | I know how you feel. I have a neighbor who has a mini-poodle. They keep the dog outside, never brush it, bathe it, or do something about its fleas. It breaks my heart. Dog was so matted I took it upon myself 2 try & clip some of the mats off. — Lulu |
| 07/30/09 08:02 PM | Saw a gal let her gorgeous white big dog drink from gutter water. Probably only lawn water but I never let Autie drink from any standing water for concern of bacteria or worse, like poisons. I almost felt like rolling down car window and telling her. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/28/09 07:29 AM | The Coton breed is considered none shedding so brushing her results in small amounts of hair in the brush. It feels like a cotton ball has been pulled apart. If you have a moment, read about the breed here on dogtime. It is true to our pooch. — Linda |
| 07/28/09 07:26 AM | For more thorough brushing my husband helps and that is when we work on her legs. We also have her groomed every 8 to 9 weeks. She is so fluffy soft when she comes back from the groomer. Coton is cotton in French and that is just what her coat is like. — Linda |
| 07/28/09 07:23 AM | Thanks for the visit to our page. Molly's hair does not overly mat since she lost her puppy hair. Her legs and side she sleeps on get matted the most. I use a pin and slicker brush and comb on her almost daily as we watch TV. — Linda |
| 07/27/09 09:08 PM | Autie chased a piece of paper blowing in wind today---really into it. Guess she was in the mood for prey (again). She and Bitz played in closet today although Bitz idea of play is swiping with a claw. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/26/09 02:23 PM | I know what your meant about concerns on being too active. We lost our previouse dog to a torn ACL and severe back problems. I cringe every time Molly takes a running leap for my lap or the bed. She just moves too quickly to correct. — Linda |
| 07/25/09 01:44 PM | Looking over your pics, Autie seems so calm, quiet, and laid back. I hope Molly settles like that. She will cuddle for a time, but likes her free run time as well. You do get great pics of her though. — Linda |
| 07/24/09 06:19 PM | Puppy dose, that's a good idea. I wonder if Georgie got a puppy dose or if they go by pounds. I'm looking into that; I've been negligent in looking into rabies shots which have changed over the years from 1-yr. to 3-yr doses. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/24/09 02:21 PM | Thanks for stopping by our page. Molly weighs just a little over 10 pounds. She looks bigger when she stretches out and with all the hair she seems heavier too. I need to get a picture of her curled like Autie for you to see. — Linda |
| 07/24/09 02:17 PM | Those rabies shot are terrible. Molly was out of it about 2 plus days. Somehwere on this site someone suggested asking for puppy dose shots instead of adult doses. Perhaps they have something like that for cats as well. — Linda |
| 07/24/09 11:08 AM | Poor Georgie! He's so small it's no wonder. I wouldn't give Georgie another shot either, ever. I'm glad he's better today. His little body is just not up to strong medications. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/24/09 09:52 AM | Got Georgie & Gracie clipped. They look soo cute! Georgie got his rabies shot & didn't do well. He is better today. Don't think I will get them rabie shots anymore. Where the heck would they get rabies anyway!! — Teri |
| 07/23/09 02:07 PM | Hi ShiraKhan and Autie, spider bites can take a long time to heal. Hope yours heals quickly and the side affects go away even faster. I finally got a picture of Molly up on our page. Stop by for a view. — Linda |
| 07/22/09 09:12 PM | Got a spider bite in the park walking Autie, swelled a bit to about a 5 inch circle--itchy and red. What we do for our babies. It's getting better but we'll avoid non-mowed grass from now on. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/20/09 07:43 PM | A quick shout out to my southern CA cuz! So close but yet so far! Autie says she's worth the drive. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/18/09 10:58 PM | You & I are so much alike! Everyday I'm touching the pavement with my bare feet to make sure it's not too hot for the dog to walk on. This evening I went as far as to put some socks on Wrinkles feet so she could go for her walk. — Lulu |
| 07/18/09 10:40 PM | Autie and I walked near sundown, about 8P. Alternated amongst grass, wood chip area and pavement. Felt pavement--had already cooled down. The wonder of asphalt! Cooler tomorrow I hope. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/18/09 10:38 PM | Hate to complain about the weather but it was 108 today. Brutal but "It's a dry heat" goes the old joke. I'm about ready to jump out of my car when I see folks walking dogs on hot pavement! D'oh on them! — ShiraKhan |
| 07/17/09 03:03 PM | You're digging up her treasures-shame on you! Ha ha!Ebony sneaks hers outside. Digs a hole & buries them. Then she tries to cover her tracks by putting dry leaves or grass over the loose soil with her nose. — Lulu |
| 07/17/09 10:44 AM | Found 2 old bones. One under bed, one in couch cushion. Autie seems to have forgotten they were there--I think. She "reburies" them in chairs, under throws, paws them over and over to bury the bone. I'm amazed how much time she can spend doing that. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/15/09 11:15 AM | Dreadful heat--usual this time of year but rarely fun--means 8AM walk after a day at home. Throws Autie off her busy dog schedule. Grass wet in park, very cool under trees. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/14/09 07:45 PM | Autie has been very patient while I overhall the bedroom from top to bottom short of painting. She shies away from the mess and prefers to nap in the living room, away from the step ladder, vacuum and a bed filled with books and other collectibles. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/12/09 08:41 PM | Hi ShiraKhan, I haven't posted a picture of Molly yet since I am computer challenged. Molly is a Coton de Tulear and is related to the Bichon and Havanese. She weighs less than 11 lbs. and has slight tanning color on her ears. — Linda |
| 07/12/09 12:05 PM | Wrinkles has arthritis.Vet said to give her an asprin twice a day. She's better & back to daily walks.I'm so relieved. I wish u lived near by, it would be so cool to walk our dogs together. — Lulu |
| 07/12/09 10:13 AM | Autie's still not used to moving things like a big dried leaf rolling in the wind. She thought it was a bird but stopped short of chasing it. As she matures, she is learning to tell the difference.Other things, like baby gate, she still shies away from. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/12/09 10:10 AM | Many June bugs in yard and lawn. When we're out, Autie jumps up when she finds one of the sticky creatures. I brought one in on my slipper once. One day I think Autie will bring one in on her fur, hissing at us all angrily. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/09/09 11:00 AM | Autie's had her snake toy for 4 days now and hasn't chewed the squeaker out of it. Could it be she is growing out of that? Still, have to supervise her play or she picks up junk to eat. We sat outside on swing last night. Autie sniffs air constantly. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/08/09 08:32 PM | Hello friend how's Autie & the kitty? My Wrinkles isn't well. Something wrong w/her front leg or paw. She's been limping for 2 day. Taking her to vet tomarrow. She's old & her health so fragile. I worry so much. — Lulu |
| 07/07/09 10:44 AM | Thanks Mocca and T. As for coats--300% easier to take care of with short hair. A couple of brushes a week and virtually no matting. I love it and Autie is cool as an OtterPop. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/07/09 10:34 AM | You are right, her coat is really soft :). Oh, and Autumn is sooo cute, you are lucky!! — Mocca |
| 07/06/09 02:11 PM | Def will! I need to get them both in for a haircut too!! Auties looks soo cute. — Teri |
| 07/06/09 11:48 AM | Teri: GIve Gracie and Georgie a kiss from me. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/06/09 10:11 AM | Love the pic of you & Autie, very, very cute!! & also love the pic of Tribs :) — Teri |
| 07/05/09 09:20 PM | I took that picture of Sweet-Pea yesterday. She's a beauty. Her sisters & her brother Tux are just over a year old. — Lulu |
| 07/05/09 01:23 PM | My kids lucked out. Because of our drought fireworks were banned again this year. Thanks for your comment on my page. — Lulu |
| 07/05/09 12:25 PM | July 4th story: Bitz hid under daybed but came out later, pretty calm. Autie did not hide under bed but did follow me all night very closely. She trembled but not terrified. Booms and whistles went on past 12A. Don't care much for noise-overload myself. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/04/09 01:35 PM | Happy 4th my dogtime friend! Tell Autie & the kitty that Ebony & Wrinkles say to cover their ears tonight! Ebony hates fireworks too!! — Lulu |
| 07/03/09 09:57 PM | Fireworks a-poppin' prematurely! Bitz is high on the room divider shelf near the ceiling and Autie refuses to go out and do her thing. It's going to be a long night tomorrow night. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/03/09 09:48 PM | Thanks Linda for stopping by. Autie and I are always pleased to make new friends. — ShiraKhan |
| 07/03/09 08:21 PM | Sorry my comment ended so oddly; I'm new to this site and have not figured out everything. I was stating perhaps we had the same breed. Please continue to write about Autie and yourself as well as post pictures. — Linda |
| 07/03/09 08:16 PM | I just came across your page and want to comment on what a lovely dog you have. I have greatly enjoyed your journal entries as well. Your Autie is the same age as our Molly (she was born 3/13/08 and when I saw her picture I thought maybe we had the same — Linda |
| 07/03/09 05:15 PM | Ahh she was a cutie! You know, Autie looks just like her. It's almost like God sent Tribbs back in Autie. Physically that is because no 2 dogs are alike. — Lulu |
| 07/03/09 08:46 AM | I'll be visiting your dogpage to see pictures of tribbs. You speak so beautifully about her that I'm curious to see what she looked like. — Lulu |
| 06/30/09 10:55 AM | I hear you--walking your dog is must not an option. Do you watch 'The Dog Whisperer'? I have learned so much about dogs from watching that show. — Lulu |
| 06/29/09 09:20 PM | Hey thanks for signing in! Autie and I walked at 8AM which means I CAN'T SLEEP IN! The horror! But we hit 2 walking areas and she was tired until sundown--so it pays to exercise your pups, people! — ShiraKhan |
| 06/29/09 01:53 PM | Hey My Friend Hope You & Autie are good!!! Stay out of this heat! UGH — Teri |
| 06/27/09 04:36 PM | Welcome to my friend-"stalkers"! Please leave a hello when you come to visit.....right here. — ShiraKhan |
| 06/27/09 09:38 AM | We met a gorgeous white lab-like dog with his owner in park. Very calm but Autie was barking--seemed to want to play, not aggressive. Heat is driving everyone out early to jog/walk dogs. 104 today. Higher tomorrow! — ShiraKhan |
| 06/25/09 11:41 PM | Sudden noises keep scaring Autie. We stop and I wait until she calms down, sit on grass or bench. Today that worked well. Heat seems to send both Bitz and Autie to the kitchen tiles to nap even w/ A/C on. A. got trimmed just in time for the high temps! — ShiraKhan |
| 06/25/09 08:51 AM | Oh ok thanks! — J.C |
| 06/24/09 02:23 PM | Hey, do you know a good way to keep gunk out of the eye area of the dog? — J.C |
| 06/23/09 04:24 PM | Do you have pictures of the lil angel you lost (Tribbs)? Just curious to see what she looked like. Forgive me if I bring back sad memories. — Lulu |
| 06/23/09 11:07 AM | Love your pictures!!! Thanks for your comment. It's nice to meet others who are as devoted to their pets as I am to mine. — Lulu |
| 06/21/09 06:44 PM | Autie jumped into a flowerbed with no flowers today. She loves to leap. Problem is the leap down is not always so safe. She's doing well watching people. Not sure she'll ever get used to sudden noises. Least not anytime soon without regular exposure. — ShiraKhan |
| 06/21/09 06:41 PM | Autie gives a shout out to Pat, Cathy, Marty, Susan and Maggie and all our other friends! — ShiraKhan |
| 06/19/09 09:55 PM | Autie is seeing more things high up around her now with fur cut away from eyes. All the expressions in her face show up well now, including that look she has that seems to say, "You're crazy!" — ShiraKhan |
| 06/16/09 07:29 PM | Added 3 post first groom photos below. — ShiraKhan |
| 06/16/09 06:59 PM | Groom day w/local great Carol! Autie is comfy-cool in new cut. I love it. No more burr-magnet! She did good. No dog hysterics. Mats-Be-Gone! — ShiraKhan |
| 06/14/09 09:19 PM | Scaredy-cat and dog pic added below. — ShiraKhan |
| 06/13/09 11:05 PM | Grad ceremony fireworks sent Autie and Bitz bolting to hide underbed for protection. They stayed there together for a half hour. We didn't hurry or coddle them. 4th of July they'll be underbed all evening long! Took a pic; will post soon. — ShiraKhan |
| 06/11/09 07:32 PM | Took some vid of Autie while ripping apart a chew toy to get to the squeaker. Gotta supervise lest she eat something. We were left with a bunch of stuffing and shredded cloth. She sure enjoys doing that and 1.00 toys are the only way to go moneywise. — ShiraKhan |
| 06/06/09 03:24 PM | Squirrel babes scurry out of bougainvillea trees as we drew near. Canal water from bridge is cool and relaxing as it roars. Just a few of changes from barren foggy winter on our Autie-walk. Busy sky. Clouds. Contrails to wisps to puffs--lovely — ShiraKhan |
| 06/05/09 03:38 PM | Autie has appt with a groomer. I have to remind myself that it is not the first time with a groomer bec she came to me from the shelter whiter than snow and she survived that! I am overprotective. Now I understand the smothering thing . — ShiraKhan |
| 06/01/09 09:42 PM | Autie has the highest-pitched excited squeal when she sees a stray cat outside. So intense it hurts human ears! Don't know if she'll grow out of it. Seems her "voice" has changed since puppyhood but in the meantime, hands over ears! — ShiraKhan |
| 05/30/09 11:04 AM | Reg long wkend walk today. Train went by, whistle blowing. Had to p/u Autie, could feel her heart race. Ran into schnauzer--avoided, too growly. Autie noticed ripples on canal water. Last time, it was dry. Helps cool area a bit. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/29/09 06:40 PM | Feel bad about skipping our walk today. Humidity and heat are awful. Thunderstorm last night only made it worse. Expecting more in some areas. Autie has some fresh chicken today as a consolation for missing our walk. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/27/09 05:25 PM | Stifling hot but Autie and I made a 20-minute go of a park walk. Waiting till later, park's too full and I'm too tired. Oh well, school's almost out and schedule will change for 3 months. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/25/09 11:54 AM | Autie and I have seen a rare sight--2 cats on harnesses/leash in the park. Adorable. She did very well, followed my leave it command but then we tried not to get too close and scare the kitties. 2 mini dachsies were also there, very well-behaved. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/24/09 10:10 AM | Big dog walking day. Met up with Shih Tzu and beagle mixes, terrier, tiny yorkie. Not nearly as hot as last weekend. Autie's kooky for those strutting birds in street. A young man said I have a curious dog. True. She's Alice and I'm the Mad Hatter! — — ShiraKhan |
| 05/21/09 09:35 PM | Dug into the bargain bin for 7 new toys for Autie. She goes through things fast but not so much as when a puppy. She's enjoying one toy at a time starting with a snake. Both of us looking forward to long weekend. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/20/09 07:09 AM | Even after months, Autie still wants to hide in back seat, afraid the windshield wipers will pop up. I think a little treat training might help her relax in the front seat. I miss having a dog by my side where Tribbles (RIP) used to ride. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/16/09 02:53 PM | 101 high today. Already hot at 8AM. Autie laps up water like a desert fox, eagerly. We avoided burr area--those things are everywhere, a nuisance. Found out she likes Chinese noodles. A cool bath means a long nap for her now. — — ShiraKhan |
| 05/15/09 06:59 PM | Success! Autie is ignoring the standing fans in the house! She even lets them blow her fur back from her face without a flinch. No more hiding in the corners of the rooms. Didn't take long. I'm proud of her. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/12/09 07:58 PM | The mark of a young dog is its willingness to eat almost anything. From the cat, perhaps, Autie learned to catch a fly in window and tongue it until eaten. I didn't stop her in time. "Yuck" is what I'm left with. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/09/09 10:32 AM | Warm days mean earlier walks though I am not a morning person. We got in a good hour. More people are getting their exercise or walking dogs in AM coolness. Bike riders look like they have a lot of fun while Autie and I slowpoke along. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/07/09 08:21 PM | Dogs are interesting. Autie has grown out of constant-chew state, where she would dig out every squeaker from a toy to actually playing with one w/o damaging it. And socks are not her first choice anymore---food is! Especially new kinds. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/06/09 07:59 PM | CATS! Autie has growled and gone crazy over 2 cats in the backyard lately. She goes absolutely ballistic but has not hurt any, thankfully. I hope the strays learn to keep far away from the backyard for their own good. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/05/09 10:40 AM | Autie met 4 dogs today including a griffon mix and a barking dachsie--all through fences which is just as well. She does not growl or bark at them. Had to cancel groom but boy she is looking like she has a grass skirt on in back! Cute but tangly. — ShiraKhan |
| 05/02/09 06:04 PM | For a nice day, trail was empty. Rain left a temp-lake visited by 3 mallards. Autie is getting better with people, learning to ignore them and to move on when she sees a dog. She rolled in wet grass, gleefully, today. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/27/09 09:31 PM | Saw lovely dog, maybe a Vizsla, Calm dog but we crossed street. Autie did okay with "sit" to help calm down. She would love to play but I don't trust stranger dogs even on a leash. We stepped in grass puddles. Autie loves them but I hate wet socks. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/25/09 04:36 PM | Autie jumped around wet grass and sprinkler puddles today, bath day. Weather cool and perfect for a longer walk. Must find out name of sandpiper-like birds she wants to chase. They have the funniest peeping sound and make Autie go nuts. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/22/09 02:42 PM | Another new experience for Autie: a small rolling "tumbleweed" in mid-street. She stopped and stared until it rolled down the lane. I thought she did great just to observe, not try and chase, or bolt away, scared. She loves retractable leash as do I. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/21/09 07:00 PM | Fans are up and running to help cool house. Autie doesn't care for them. I forget she's not experienced many things yet. That includes bees and wasps which she pokes at on the lawns. She doesn't seem to know they can bite. Have to shoo her away from them. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/16/09 01:48 PM | Ran into Sadie the retriever. She is so calm but she and Autie have yet to cross the street to meet. The Bitz has adjusted well to Autie in 5 mos but sometimes I think she longs for the days of not being pursued for fun or having her food bits scavenged. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/13/09 04:11 PM | Park walk yielded 4 plastic eggs with candy--Autie was ready to break them open for the treats before I snatched them away. She's got a great nose on her. Confetti EVERYWHERE. Very colorful but tempting for a dog to find a bar-b-q bone amongst the mess! — ShiraKhan |
| 04/12/09 05:30 PM | Ran into big beagle again. Autie did well; didn't bark just watched beagle and his dachshund brother. Autie picking up burrs. Have to check paws, etc., completely after every walk. Don't want nasty absesses. Good comb-out to follow but now's nap time. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/11/09 09:20 PM | Met an obese beagle we felt sorry for today. She was breathing hard. Her sister was a dachshund, very peppy. Worked on "come" training with retractable leash--Autie responds with chicken treat. Hope to phase out food someday. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/11/09 09:16 PM | Oh yeah, it's girly pink alright. There's more black on the sides now than when I got her in November. We're all waiting to see if it goes all-black eventually. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/11/09 02:12 PM | is her nose actually pink? From the littlest of the Perez family — Perez Family |
| 04/09/09 01:53 PM | Autie has a possible friend in an extremely well-behaved female Golden Retriever who sometimes appears on our trail from her house w/her owner. I hope to let them smell each other up someday, maybe play.Good for Autie. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/09/09 01:50 PM | White pumps walking and a green collander spooked Autie this week. I swear she was kept in one room all her first 8 months as she's had so little exposure to common objects. Her recovery time from startled to normal mood is getting shorter. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/09/09 01:48 PM | Autie got a new set of mini tennis balls today, the squeaky kind. She loves to roll on her back and mouth it but when it rolls away there's that pause in her face and body that says, "Ugh, have to go get it now--too much work." — ShiraKhan |
| 04/04/09 06:53 PM | Autie's brushing out sessions are still too much just playtime for her. Looking for a groomer who can handle a sometimes skittish young dog. Shorter hair will make our brush-out sessions easier, I think, and treats with praise. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/03/09 04:58 PM | Autie met a chihuahua mix in a denim jacket today. They both barked but not aggressively. Not sure if other dog was male or female, no chance to ask and wind is so strong that all sounds are muffled. — ShiraKhan |
| 04/03/09 04:55 PM | Autie and The Bitz have been at their wee-hours mischief last 2 nights. Bitz knocks down pens; Autie chews them up. Got to be very careful not to leave anything out for either of them. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/31/09 03:36 PM | Autie's in the doghouse again. "It's The BItz's fault!" says Autie, "She made me do it!" What she did was chew up another mouse toy Bitz brings out of her safe room into the open. Autie says she thought it was a gift. I may be able to sew it up and fix. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/28/09 02:25 PM | We went out of town. Autie excited at carnival/ballgames. Only incident was snapping at a German Shepard who got too close. More exposure to other dogs in safe environment is needed, not less. Did ok with peeps except wanting to jump on them. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/26/09 07:43 PM | Autie met a maltese puppy, 4 mos old. It barked at her and she would've liked nothing more than to romp with it. Warned pup's mom about burrs in fur and danger of absesses, make sure pup gets combed out. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/25/09 05:15 PM | Trail's young trees giving bits of welcome shade. Autie loves to be on grass but is bored with absence of people. The ball parks seem more her style. Saying a lot for a once very shy puppy who flinched at everything going by. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/22/09 12:56 PM | Quick weather-change meant Autie & The Blustery Day. Refreshing. Said hi to our 3 Shih Tzu friends in windows. Don't know if they ever get out but they are healthy-looking and active, usually bark when we go by. Got a wave from their lady owner today. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/20/09 05:50 PM | Finally Friday. Getting hotter-took water on walk for first time. Autie needed it more than me. No harness today but she did better with collar. Did great with 3 kids riding bikes. Didn't jump at them or bark. She also met "Sheba", a cocker mix 4 yrs old. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/18/09 05:37 PM | Autie's a natural jumper. She's graceful like a cat--more a leaper. Had her leap over a bar they use on the field and she followed me perfectly. Must get back to working with the dowel-jump inside the house again. She's doing well with people about. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/18/09 11:57 AM | The dog is my mothers! I lived with it for a while and love it as my own — $hakey25RYAN |
| 03/17/09 07:07 PM | Thanks for the comment I like your dog too! — J.C |
| 03/17/09 04:31 PM | Happy b-day, Autie! You are now officially a year old. I set your birth on an easy to remember day, St. Pat's, since I don't know exactly when you were born. How you've enriched my life. Thanks to you, I've lost 5 lbs,. too! — ShiraKhan |
| 03/15/09 02:57 PM | Autie and I have conquered the canal trail by going all the way round and back. Took us over hr. and a half. New territory demands Autie's attention and we're working on controlling the pulling towards squirrels or crows. She should sleep well tonight. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/14/09 11:19 AM | Autie and The Bitz are obsessed with gopher holes in yard. I hate thought of exterminating gophers so have covered up holes with dirt, large objects. Sprinklers keep Autie and Bitz away, too. Walk yesterday was long and windy-free. Nice! — ShiraKhan |
| 03/12/09 05:06 PM | Thanks. :) I looked up Tibetan Spaniel---Your baby is adorable! They have such beautiful coats. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/12/09 04:58 AM | shes sooooooooooooooooooooooo cute — Tibby lover |
| 03/10/09 06:12 PM | Bath day! Autie looks like a new dog. White dogs are like white anything--dirty in a day even though I wash off her paws during the week. The hair on her top backside reminds me of my dear departed Tribbles, who had finer but curlier fur. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/09/09 04:32 PM | Left Autie looking a sleepy this AM. She gets used to sleeping in over the weekend. Our walk was nice despite my hay fever in high winds. Ready for weather to settle down although Autie's shedding fur must be whisked away by the strong breezes. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/07/09 07:04 PM | You're welcome Ody!. Good name, btw. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/06/09 11:03 PM | awww thanks for the kind word! ody says thank you as well! — Odysseus |
| 03/06/09 05:19 PM | I see fields of green! And so does Autie. She is eager to bolt across but I can barely keep up. More snow petals in the strong wind.Little purple flowers everywhere. Met a barking black dachshund. I think he longed to come over the fence and run with us. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/05/09 04:07 PM | Skipped our walk to play fetch-the-ball today. Autie and The Bitz both chase the ball with Bitz zooming out from under the bushes. Neither ends up getting it. Instead they play-chase one another and leave me to fetch it for myself. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/03/09 07:00 PM | Autie met her smaller version today, but with a cream coat. Tree petals are falling like snow to the grass. Windy day. If Autie had a longer tail she could've taken off like a box kite. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/02/09 04:49 PM | Went to busier place to walk, where little league practice is held. Autie loved the open field and was good about not wanting to play-jump on passers-by. She came home with a few blossom petals in her fur, a small bit on her nose. — ShiraKhan |
| 03/01/09 08:01 PM | Autie is better on the leash than 4 mos.ago with regular training. Still needs work when skateboards pass. I think she'll grow less skittish as she matures. Tiniest buds on trees today. Soon, flowers everywhere! — ShiraKhan |
| 02/27/09 05:20 PM | Trail is getting busier. Autie discovered a dandelion, stuck her nose in it and blew off some seeds. Waved to a couple of dachsie minnies--cute little things. Autie came home to a bath and follow-up nap. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/26/09 07:49 PM | Autie will need a trim soon, days getting warmer. She tried out her new red harness. It's invisible in her fur. She did well with strangers, starting to ignore them. But did want to chase a red-shirted boy on a bike to play. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/24/09 04:30 PM | Last part of our trail is sporting pink blossoms. Autie very into the squirrel burrows and gopher holes. She'd dig them out if I let her. Must have ratter in her. Detoured today when a stray crossed our path. Better safe than sorry. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/23/09 04:39 PM | Animals are out today at walk time. We saw a sour-looking teen walking 2 pugs and a chihuahua, a hummingbird on a lone branch, and a huge orange cat sleeping in the tall weeds on the canal banks. Autie trying wheat-free Booda, liked it. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/23/09 06:51 AM | Rainy day meant short walk yesterday before downpour and wind sent us back to the car. But it was enough to get some fresh air. Hoping this Monday will provide a dry window for some exercise. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/20/09 05:21 PM | Autie still spooked by skates or skateboard people but last part of the trail she calmed down. Best thing to do is just stop and sit together on the curb or grass until she relaxes. Can't wait till the trees blossom out there. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/19/09 05:37 PM | Spring is round the corner and so are skateboarders coming full-bore at us. Scared Autie enough to try and run. Had to pick her up until she calmed down. Little by little I hope she gets used to them but they surprised me, too. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/18/09 05:02 PM | Back to work. Fam says cat and dog both lazy, slept while I was out. Autie and I hit 2 parks this afternoon. She went wild after the tennis ball in the backyard afterwards. She's not interested in fetching, just playing by herself seems fun for her. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/17/09 01:01 PM | Rain. Went out on trail between storms. Ran into Bonnie again. Mean wind, hurried on with a quick hello. Red squirrels running in and out of burrows and hawks having fun on the currents. Mtns. covered with snow. Autie and I invigorated. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/16/09 12:43 PM | Rainy day. Autie and I have been out to feed the hummingbirds. Training her to jump a good rainy day activity. Looking for a dog tunnel for spring. She'll be timid about that; it'll take time. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/15/09 03:08 PM | At the trail, Autie made friends with "Bonnie", a cute westie. Her dad told us Bonnie is 6 and has lots of energy. We decided Autie has terrier in her, too. VIew of mountains, we agreed, is spectacular today. — ShiraKhan |
| 02/14/09 09:12 PM | Autie and I went for a walk along the baseball park. She did okay with people but didn't like the PA system, a man's booming voice calling out numbers. We crossed the street and stayed behind the cars. Made it back safely to our car. Autie relaxed. — ShiraKhan |

She came from a shelter at 8 months in Nov 2008. The shelter staff told me she was the most timid dog they'd ever had because she apparently never went out and lived with only one person. Sure enough, on our first walk, she was afraid of everything especially loud noises. After months, she's much improved. I lost my previous pal in April 2008. It made me tear up to accept that I had to move on sometime and that Autie was being born when my other pal was on her way out of this world. Autie has shown me a new appreciation for life. I try very hard to make every moment count with her.
