One more thing, tail docking is sometimes done later in life if a dog is having reoccurring problems with his tail splitting open due to too much wagging. I've seen this lots of times in whip tailed breeds. And it is the lesser of two evils. — Kelly Dunbar |

do go on to live normal lives. I wouldn't call it abuse, per se, but it is unnecessary and probably uncomfortable for the dogs at first. Most owners don't have a say in tail docking because it happens so early, but ears don't have to be done. — Kelly Dunbar |

Docking - unnecessary & a bit archaic but generally it is done surgically or when the pups are first born and so it doesn't hurt that much (supposedly). More progressive breeders/breed clubs aren't doing it anymore but the dogs that have been docked do — Kelly Dunbar |

If you keep your Dali groomed the fur isn't that noticeable-but will always show up on dark clothing. Just remember that Dalis are very high energy dogs and need LOTS of exercise and training. — ivycat |
