Amy Poehler’s YouTube Channel Helps Shelter Dogs Find Homes

October is Adopt A Shelter Dog month, and Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls YouTube Channel is pitching in on the ASPCA‘s effort to find homes for adoptable shelter dogs with a new video series called “Heavy Petting.” Each video in the series features a dog or cat–voiced by a celebrity guest–in need of a home.

The first video was released last week and stars an adorable high-energy pooch named Bart (like Bart Simpson, as the video points out) with comedian John Mulaney as the voice over. John Mulaney’s stand-up comedy has been on Comedy Central and his television show Mulaney appeared on Fox, and he perfectly captures the excitement of Bart the dog with his voice acting talents. Mulaney is a dog lover, as well, and has his own French Bulldog named Petunia.

We can’t wait to see what other dog-loving celebrities get in on the act as the “Heavy Petting” series continues. Hopefully these videos will be shared and help the ASPCA find homes for shelter animals. If you are interested in adopting, you can visit the ASPCA’s website, or you can just stop by your local animal shelter and take a look around. Then you can have a new buddy to try out your own voice acting talents on!

You can also take a look at DogTime’s adoption page to search for the right dog for you!
