Scuba Judy and Boss from Eagle River WI

Human: Scuba Judy

Canine: Boss

Location: Eagle River WI

Type: Boston Terrier

Our Story:

My husband, daughter, and I went to visit my sister in her new lake home “up north.” Her son and daughter-in-law (Dan and Heidi) came to see us on our first night there. Heidi stated that she had a friend who had a Boston Terrier puppy for sale. I told her to get me more information. That night, Heidi kept teasing my husband, “Wait till Mike comes over with that puppy.”

My interest in Bostons started when I became very ill and had to find homes for my five exotic birds in 1998. Raji, our first Boston, was my reward for making it through a lung transplant. By the time we met Boss, Raji was 9 years old. The day before we were going to head home, I asked my sister to call Heidi and ask if she could locate her friend so that we could see the puppy before we left. We made arrangements to meet at a park in Eagle River because they lived quite a ways from my sister. They brought along the mother, father, and another Boston, along with the puppy. I fell in love with him immediately. I asked my husband what he thought and he said he wouldn’t do it himself, but he wouldn’t stop me from doing what I wanted to do. I told him he was outvoted 2:1 as my daughter wanted him to live with us, too.

On the way home, every time we stopped for a potty break, somebody wanted to buy Boss. After we got home, my husband asked if he could change his vote. I named him after my favorite teacher in high school: my band director. Boss really brought Raji back to life. They would spend hours chasing each other around the house. He is the nicest dog I’ve ever known. He’s gone to three sets of classes and is very obedient. He just loves people and going to the dog park. I am hoping that I can train him to be a therapy dog due to his pleasant personality. To this day, my husband still says he wants to get Heidi for telling me about the puppy!
