christmas at brighton dog beach
Well, if Christmas morning did not meet our expectations (see lila’s wading pool), Christmas afternoon exceeded them. For months we’d been hearing wonderful things about the Brighton dog beach. A Melbourne beach where dogs romp off lead. A kind of round-the-clock beach party for dogs. And Christmas seemed like the perfect time to go there.

lila's wading pool
We don’t make a big fuss at Christmas, but we always give a little something special to each pet. My mare Lily enjoys a juicy holiday apple and expresses her delight by slobbering all over the hand that feeds her. And normally we would give some tasty treat to Lila, but this year we thought that a Labrador might appreciate a wet place to cool herself during our antipodean summer.

Catahoula Leopard Shepherd Mix
Does anybody have a catahoula leopard shepherd mix puppy? We got Savanna at 8 weeks old and we were told that she's a shepherd mix. We just recently found out that she's got catahoula leopard shepherd in her. We're thinking that she might have separation anxiety. Pit bull attack
I was recently walking three of my dogs, Lady, Raina, and Cooper, when a pitbull bolted out of its owners house and attacked my dogs. It bit Cooper's neck and would not let go. A neighbor handed me a broom and I broke it hitting the dog trying to get it off. I also kicked it a number of times in the rib cage as hard as I could. Nothing worked. daybreak in the bush
We used to awake at sunrise. Then Lila turned up and reset our clock. At 4am in the pitch black, we’d hear her plaintive cry. Poor starving puppy. It was breakfast time. And I’d dutifully stumble downstairs to meet her needs. As the months ticked over, however, like all adolescents she started sleeping in, but her humans remained on the exacting schedule. We soon found ourselves waking her.

a morning at the market
Many months ago I’d taken our Labrador Lila to the local farmers’ market when she was still small enough to carry in my arms (for a limited time!). a bird dog's birthday
Ever since Lila came to us at eight weeks of age I’ve had my eye on this toy duck. A nearly life-sized plush duck that quacks.
