Apartment/Condo Living
I am planning on getting a bernese puppy because I am in love with the breed and its qualities. I read that it's a less active dog and have heard differing reviews on apt/condo living, such as this site. My condo is 900 sq ft with a large balcony. I see this breed in my city a lot so thinking others are clearly doing it.
Any input you can provide on the dogs needs and activity would be greatly appreciated.

Can Predatory instincts be reduced with training?
I live on a farm and barn cats are a part of every day life. Is it likely that I will be able to find a Bernese Mountain dog that can either naturally- or learn to through training- resist the urge to antagonize them?

Drooling & Shedding
Can anyone tell me how much a Bernese Mountain dog drools and sheds? I can handle the hair, but not sure about the slobber. We've had a golden retriever- is it much worse than that?

Are Bernese Mountain Dogs a good family dog?
I am in love with them! We have a yellow lab who is an amazing family dog. I do daycare so I need a dog like our yellow that is easy going and gets along great with the kids. We would get a puppy so s/he is raised around the kids. Good family dog or not?

Berner howling
My 3 year old male berner "bays". It happens very rarely and always at night..any other berner owners experienc this kind of vocalization? I can't seem to find references to it anywhere!
