“In regards to the dairy comment, my beagle loves dairy until he got food allergies & has to be on special food. My vet told me that cheese & other dairy products are the worst thing you can give your dog because they can itch themselves raw!! oosbubs@hotmail.com Jan22/09”

“My dog loves dairy products. I wonder if the rinds on some of the organic cheeses are bad for them. Does anybody know?”

“I have been feeding my 4 dogs a premixed dog food which is dehydrated and I add the meat. They LOVE it. It does, however, have garlic in it. I thought garlic was OK for dogs. What's the truth on this? KMS”

“TexasRose1, I did some research on this online, and garlic is toxic to dogs in larger amounts. No one seems to know exactly what that amount is however, and some dogs may be more vulnerable than others. Many store-bought and homemade treats have small amounts of garlic that many dogs tolerate just fine. But you wouldn't want to feed your dog a lot of them. I take out all garlic - just to be safe.”

“Karen Baker - you should be able to find both of those in a health food store. Whole Foods if you have one near you, most little independent health food stores should have them as well.”
