Comments: Dog Vaccinations

Lalala_014_thumbnaildogs are alot like humans, vaccinations do work on most dogs, and like humans, some dogs have adverse effects to the vaccinations. that DOES NOT mean that the dog should not have vaccinations at all. it just means that you need to figure out what your dog is allergic to. and these vaccinations don't HAVE to be started at 6 wks old either. i was given a 7month old pitbull puppy who had never had a single shot in her life. i went in and got all her vaccinations done, and everything went fine. of course she didn't like the thermometer up her butt, but who would? these diseases and disorders are all dangerous to your dog. you wouldn't let your child go without thier vaccinations would you? why let your dog go without them when it could mean saving there life? most of the vaccinations are entirely optional. if you aren't worried about your dog getting Kennel Cough, then fine, don't get that shot. But Parvo, Rabies, Distemper etc are VERY serious conditions that are VERY expensive to treat. The shots are generally under 10$ with the exception of one or two that are a bit more than that, so compare that estimate of about 40$ (what i paid for my dogs shots (all that was offered) compared to say the 500$-1500$ it costs to treat the problems. Or you could just be one of those dog owners who think they're dog is just a dog and if they die they'll just get another one, which in my opinion, shouldn't own a dog in the first place” — Christine, Oct 04 2009

Avatar"cennel cough is merely a canine cold"
that's why it can kill a puppy in fewer than 24 hours if not treated, and even then, can still kill the puppy.
The reason these diseases are non-existent or nearly non-existent is because of laws and vets saying dogs and cats need to be vaccinated. The few reactions that happen are not a reason to stop vaccinating animals. Just as in humans, these deadly diseases WILL come back if we let animals go un-vaccinated.
No, i am not a vet, or from a drug company. I am a dog owner, nothing more.” — katie, Jun 16 2009

Pr_web_3-07_thumbnailI'm sorry to say that this sounds like a vaccine schedule written by a vaccine manufacturer, not a health advocate. It's far from what experts currently recommend. Leptospirosis, for example, is highly reactive and probably does not protect against the disease strains found in your area. Coronavirus rarely exists outside of a laboratory, and cennel cough is merely a canine cold. Vaccines against it are inaffective according to the top experts -- like Dr. Ron Schultz. And why vaccinate against a disease that "usually resolves itself on its own"? Articles such as this are responsible for the continued over-vaccination of dogs and countless cases of illness. Learn more about vaccinations, adverse reactions and what immunologists recommend at www.dogs4dogs.com/shots and www.truth4dogs.com.” — K9Author, May 08 2009

AvatarThis is the most horrible vaccination article I have read in a long time! Corona virus is almost as dangerous as parvo? Most experienced vets feel the benefits of annual vaccines outweigh the risks? Whoever wrote this is not only stuck in the Dark Ages, they may be in the pay of the pharmaceutical companies! Bah!!!” — MMC, May 03 2009

AvatarVaccinations contain mercury and WILL have adverse effect on you and your dog's health.
Don't trust your doctor or your vet, find out for yourself.” — asdf, Jan 15 2009

AvatarI don't have a pup but mom saids i can get one if the vaccinations are $600 or less how much do they cost” — Gymnastgirli..., Nov 03 2008

Check_me_out__thumbnailMy puppy is 8 weeks old and 3 days ago I had to take her to the vet because I descovered an abssess on her shoulder...the abssess turned out to be a reaction to her first lot of vacinations which required lancing, draining and a course of anti-biotics...despite this my vet has advised to continue on with her next vacination shots which are due on the 29/09......” — msporou, Sep 08 2008
