“It is very disappointing in this article there are no references to holistic foods. Grocery brand foods are toxic to many dogs and we have seen remarkable recoveries in dogs and cats when they are put on holistic foods/allergy formulas such as California Natural, Wellness SFS, Natural Balance Allergy formulas. ”

“My RatCha's skin disease is getting to the point that he is getting infections where the rashes come up. He is on antibiotics and antihistamines. The funny thing is that, when we took him with us to the mountains of WV for a vacation, his skin started clearing up and his itching subsided. We live in FL and the hotter and more humid it gets, the worse his skin disease. We are moving to WV when we retire in October. This poor little pooch has been miserable. I hope the move is the right thing for him.”

“drglover1-Thank you for letting us know how your dog is doing.I was afraid they weren't giving her subq fluids or meds. I have had my dogs eat strange things and vomit and get diarrhea, it's a lot more common than you think. As for the allergy shots, I don't know. I know that when I worked at my vets office we took in a stray kitten that some kids found. He looked pitiful. He was almost bald. The vets started treating him and he just kept getting worse, and ended up with no fur on his head. We took him to an veterinary allergist and, once his treatment started, he looked a lot worse before he started looking better. If you are worried and she seems to be getting worse, I would get a second opinion. I don't know of any vet that would object. I do know that allergies in dogs cause them to loose their coats and scratch constantly. I hope your dog recovers and gets back to her happy self soon. Good luck!!! ”

“ivycat- They don't know what is causing it,thinks it must have been something she ate, and yes they have given her fluids for the last 2 days, due to her not eating or drinking. Also a shot for the diahrea and vomiting which has stopped now. I have also been able to get her to eat some boiled chicken and she has drank water once today. They have skipped her allergy shots for the last 2 days, until she fells better. I am concerned that they are what is making her sick. She is ready to start the second vial and the way I understand it, it will be more potent than the first one, although she won't be getting a shot every other day. The shots have really made her look bad, being that she is being injected with what she is allergic to,so as to build up an immunity. She is itching like crazy. ”

“drglover1-What did they say was causing the vomiting and diarrhea? Did they treat her for it? If not I would be looking for a new vet ASAP!”

“My dog started immunotherapy shots two weeks ago. They started with the low dose and she is getting it every other day, gradually increasing the dose. She now looks awful and is scratching more than ever. Does this seem to be the norm? Also, for the last 2 days she has been vomiting and has diahrea. Had stopped eating and drinking until today. Does anybody know if this is normal? The vet say's that the being sick has nothing to do with the shots. ”
